It is now, yes. But back when Q7 was introduced, things were different. Getting 17mm equivalent wide that small was pretty special. I'm probably going to sell my "Q7 Complete Kit" package.

The 08 lives on my Q7. Nothing else is so easy to carry for interior shots.

Small sensor will give you great DOF with no need to have the camera refocus. No mic input, of course.

Is there any danger of the permanent internal clock battery eventually leaking or damaging the camera in any way? Can it be easily removed in case of any risk?

Imperfect design of the PD clip. But the back lower left corner scuff indicates why the fixed screen is better than a weak articulated design. You could have lost the screen. Instead you scuffed the magalloy chassis.

I have one. I've pixel peeped, looked at NR, operated it through the Image Synch app, shot pixel shift, learned the menu system, etc. I'm just not pretending to be a "reviewer," and open boxing is pretty meaningless. Having said that, I am also aware of how manufacturer bias, limited familiarity, and the desire to project droll "comedy" can affect even "professional" reviews. Reviews can help, but not if they take themselves more seriously than they take the camera. (Telling me "professionally" that the pebble-grain rubber zoom grip on a lens is "ouchy" under the fingertips or that a camera is "heavy for its size" is pretty far useless. I'd rather watch an unboxing.) I'm expecting dust-up over the RAW NR, but I'm seeing no problems at any practical level. Ultimately, one makes up one's own mind. The death of brick and mortar stores has made this more difficult.

ZLMC Ricoh GR III screen protector, 9H hardness 0.3mm ultra-thin tempered glass screen protector fits K-3III. I suggest screen protection right out of the box, before you need to wipe it clean later, which can be difficult sometimes. Apply a screen protection glass immediately.

Pentax engineers are not fresh out of school -- correct! Can't wait for the other forum to, oh, so knowingly, bash the baking.

The over-rated "baked-in" criticism will probably be the chief point of attack against the camera in the other forum's review. They used it before.

In bright daylight outdoors it is difficult to see the screen. In my view it's an interiors camera -- restaurants, parties, other indoor events -- ideally with the DA21mm Ltd or 20-40mm Ltd. (slightly wider and faster at f2,8). 40mm XS (or Ltd.) is a little tight.

With very few brick & mortar stores any longer, getting a camera made with in-hand ergonomic feel and intuitive user interface in mind seems difficult. Anyone with a k-7/5/3 variant knows this will be an elegant tool. Those cams are older, and many are indeed being replaced by users who got their money's worth. K-3III is an update in many ways from those, it feels familiar, maybe better, so it will sell well to those users. To newcomers unfamiliar with the Pentax top-tier APS-C form, lack of local shelf product is a problem.

I dropped mine onto concrete and created the stiff focus at the near end. Otherwise, no damage and IQ is unchanged. I'm not sure exactly what happened with the movement of the focusing group in the lens. I can turn it by hand to shortest focus, but AF will no longer get it there. I'd try to fix it if I had a disassembly guide.

You are correct! It needs reverse thread. I didn't think that fully through.

The Pentax Limited 15mm comes with a threaded cap. If you have that, replace it with a regular clip on cap and move the threaded one to the GR-III wide lens group.

The M in SMC-M stands for "miniature" owing to an era at Asahi Optical Co. (Pentax) when they undertook to make cameras and lenses more compact. All of the lens elements and formulas were redesigned as between SMC's and SMC-M's at the same focal lengths and speeds, making the lenses smaller. Rendering characteristics are thus necessarily different.

Astounding. Thanks, PiDicus Rex, for posting this clarifying information -- a reminder, in your case, because you HAD posted the information before -- on how to shoot video properly with a K-01, if that's what one simply MUST do. I had mentioned that the DPRTV thing was very unprofessional, and now I'm simply shocked at it. Crappy. The latter versions of K-01 firmware have been available all along, with v.1.5 still available today.

It's clear that, regardless of how it started, it ultimately was presented in an unprofessional way.
