It depends on what you are shooting.

I do a lot of outdoor car photography and it really helps with reflections on shiny cars and on the glass and windsheilds.

I won't shoot a car show without it.

Chris,

As always.... amazing work...... I especially like how you caught the paint "dripping" down.

Very cool.

Some suggestions.....

Next time you do a paint shoot.... try some flourescent colours and many many more colours... don't know why but I think more colour and more vivid colours would be very eye catchings.

The next idea is not meant to be creepy or perverted (I am not that kind of guy, I am a father of 3 girls so I am sensitive to these things)

What would be interesting (if done tastefully and artistically) is if the model was comfortable being nude, paint on the natural body could be very striking.

Not saying that anything "private" needs to be shown... modesty in the shots would be fine and probably encouraged... but with the body as the paint canvas the outcome could be even more amazing.

(have a hard time expressing in words what I am trying to get at so please don't take it the wrong way)

I am a huge fan of your work!

I am a happy guy, my local library has them. Just put them on reserve for me.

I want to take my shots to the next level. I have been just taking mediocre shots and I THOUGHT I knew what I was doing... Having a conversation with a fellow camera guy the other day pretty much nailed it for me that I have no clue what I am actually doing.....

I had assumed it was the hardware that made good shot and that if I got a good camera, good lenses, and all the good accessories I would have stellar shots... (Yes I realize this is somewhat insulting to the pros that are true artists and that they could take stellar photos with the crappiest cameras on the market......) I mean no disrespect and if anything it makes me appreciate those people even more.

I think this revelation makes me appreciate the art of photograhy even more.

I would like to start knowing more about what I am doing rather than just clicking and praying.......

I am in awe by some of the work seen on this site and one day I would love for someone to be impressed by my photos..... that is going to take me understanding what I need to be doing.

I am an avid fan of photography ever since the K1000 I had in high school, used all the way though university, then my MZ-7 that I bought in 2001, and now the K10D that I bought about 6 months ago... I am realizing now that my "spray and pray" attidude has to change if I want good shot.

There is.... we use it all the time for car parts. Works amazing!

Here in toronto we use the one that is on the NF/Buffalo boarder.

Entry Page

You have the item sent to their location, you go pick it up, and drive the item across the boarder.

Nothing too big or too small.

I had 4 sets of tires sent there and just drove and got them.

Hi,

If someone can either lay it out in an easy to understand manner as it pertains to the K10D and various lenses for the following terms I would be forever grateful.

I tried searching and googling and everything I am finding is way too technical for my newbie brain or it talks about settings on a camera I don't have or know.

Can the following be explained (and if you can relate it to the K10D and its settings that woudl be super)

Depth of Field
Aperature (why 2.8 for some, why 22 for others, why in the middle)
Focal Length
Shutter Speed

I just want my shots to look sharp and good.

I thought I was doing the right thing the other day and yet my shots are not exactly how I would have liked them.

I shot a car show and found that I had a lot of out of focus areas that I had hoped would be in focus.

So obviously I am not getting it ..... if someone could just explain to me these elements in a way it relates to my camera I would appreciate it.

(or if there is a site that I can go to....)

How do you get a shot like that?

Is that hand-held or tripod?

Do you just wait around for something like that to happen and then capture it?

You guys simply blow my mind with these shots. I can't even take a decent macro of just a flower without getting all messed up when the breeze moves the flower around and my focus goes for *$&@*

Thanks to a very nice person here on the forums I got a ring flash for a very reasonable price (Thanks Heather)

I finally figured out how to get it working and played around with it the other night.

Just simple shots seeing how it worked...... What a fantastic device!

All were shot with a Sigma 50mm 2.8 Macro

Not so much a critique for the photos as I am in no way qualified to judge....

but WOW.... what an amazing talent that sculpter has. The time put in is simply amazing.

Being someone who has ZERO artistic ability I am simply amazed by those that have artistic skills.

When they talk about left and right brain people I know right off the bat I am a lefty....

Congrats Ed and good luck Richard.

Being someone who is not well I can relate. I have something called Diverticulitus and happen to be home right now experiencing a flare up. Thank god for good pain medication like oxycotton and amazing anti-biotics.

Totally agree with the "glad to be in 2008" comment. Years ago I would be long dead. (I am only 37)

Hang in there guys.... life is good and it truly is what you make of it! Enjoy life to its fullest and be sure to capture every moment. (Good thing you have a Pentax to do it with)
