K-7 and SMC-A 50mm 1.4 focus sharpness issues

If I set the ring at infinity, how would I get it any sharper, in focus? If something is 50 yards away, it should be at infinity. Actually, I did try adjusting the ring, but it just made it worse. If I have to set the 1.4 lens at f2 it defeats the purpose of having the f2, doesn't it? I will play more this week.

What do you mean by reset? Set everything to default? I sure wouldn't want to have to do that often!

Here is a link. I will add more in a few because the variables are not entirely accurate between the two lenses. I trashed the photos last night with indoor shots which were taken at an indoor arena. you couldn't read the signs on the opposite side of the stadium.

Hey All,
I just purchased a Pentax SMC-A 50mm f1.4 lens for my K-7. When I take photos that are at a distance the photos are very unsharp. This isn't a result of my not focusing correctly because the ring is turned as far as it will go. I have better results at closer ranges in which I have to set the focus. My understanding is that calibration is for auto focus lenses. Is that correct? Is the lack of sharpness a lens or camera function? I've done multiple searches here and on the web, but have been unable to find any useful information

Thanks All
Theresa

Thanks for the action. It's a big help for learning to do this.. I understand it to be a learning tool, not a tool to give a final result. Each photo needs it's own tinkering!

That's all? No fancy filters for painting effects? Very Impressive, I am even more a novice with Photoshop than I am with photography.
