Describes exactly what I feel about good old glass.
And I would add more things. Just hold a Takumar and you know that you have QUALITY in your hands. You know it's been here working for half a century and it will still work for many more decades, probably for the rest of your life. Hold a modern lens and you have plastic that will crack and electronics that will die.

I have a few lenses with lazy/sticky blades and the behaviour is different. In this one, the blades open and close really fast.

Thanks for the great answer.
Just measured it, in the older one the aperture is around 6mm (which is right).
In the newer one (the electric MC) it's almost 10mm.
If I set it to f/16 then it's identical to the other at f/8.

I have two CZJ Pancolar 50mm f/1.8 of different generations.
Just noticed that when I set them at the same aperture, the holes left for light gathering are quite different, being bigger at the newer one.
Two pictures, with both set at f/22 (1st pic) and f/8 (2nd pic).
Is there anything wrong or is this normal?

Yes, that's a problem. Since there's not a bayonet or screw system to hold it, if the base is a bit loose it will be constantly coming out.

My version is the all-black M42, made in 1971 (just like me :))
Bought the original hood from a Russian seller for 5$ +7$ shipping.
To open/close the diaphragm I just rotate the hood.
The first picture shows the engraved hood base.

I will let you know, of course.
135s tend to be good and cheap, and there are plenty of them around...
Helios-44-K4... It's the same lens as the 44M-4, and I prefer M42 to Ks so...
Jupiter 9... I'd like to have one, but never found a copy at an acceptable price.
I always buy lenses which are priced below the market price. I used to spend hours looking for good lenses at a good price.
It's more a feeling thing.
Of course, the coatings are "better" in Ks or Ms than in Takumars, but... I can't explain, I touch a Tak and it's instant love.
