Q7 is my favourite camera for photography of insects due to its handiness. Here one of my photo.
Currently in actual Monthly Contest ;).
Unfortunately, I see that this is the only photo taken with the Q camera in the entire Contest. Very sad, because it's a great small camera in this use :(.

In my opinion, the image quality of Q7 and Q-S1 is much better than Q. The reason is not only larger sensor (and in conseqnence lower noise). In one of Q reviews there I read that Q have stronger AA filter which makes photos slightly more "fuzzy". I have the same experiences.
The field of view of the "pro lens" in Q7/Q-S1 will be wider but the Q3 lens (fisheye, which is one of the "toy lens") is not fully adapted to Q7 sensor so on photo corners you will see the lens itself ;). On the other hand, with the Q you will get slightly longer focal lengths - if you care about it.

I guess that the answer is probably known. But: has Ricoh really decided that the Pentax Q is dead? Or will Ricoh give any more chance for this system?

On attached photo: Q7 with Metz Mecablitz 26 AF-1.
I have had also Pentax AF200FG but it was heavier than this Metz, has no tilting head, has fewer functions and has lower guide number. So this Metz is my choice for Q.

Sorry, maybe really I am wrong. I remember from years ago the information in some review or test that Q7 has no filter or it has filter but with lower strenght (and probably the second option is correct). But as I remember this information was no from documentation but it was author's supposition due to fact that image resolution in Q7 was higher than Q.

Q7 and Q-S1 have better image quality not only as result of lower noise level (bigger sensor) but also as result of lack of anti-aliasing filter. In my opinion this filter in original Q is strong and it kills image resolution.
So visible resolution on photography from Q7 and Q-S1 is in my opinion better than Q despite the same sensor resolution (as I remember there is comparison of IQ of Q7 and Q in Q7 test on Pentaxforums).

Hi again. I did tests with Q7 as I wrote previously. I recorded two 12-hour interval movies. On both there no focus problems like on Q.
Maybe two attempts are not enough to definitely confirm this thesis but it looks like it is Q model defect.
BTW. On Q7 there is possibility to make significantly longer interval movies with the same interval than on Q.

I use a few very cheap (about 3.5 USD) batteries from my local store interchangeably with original batteries. I do not use them very often but after a 2-4 years of use, I did not notice a very noticeably significant difference between them.
In my opinion, the most important is buying fresh batteries and not keeping them too long in unloaded state because it is very disadvantageous for Li-ion batteries.
In this way, I destroyed one an almost new Sony battery (original so definitely good quality) after it had been discharged for nearly a year.

Yes. I have the newest lens and camera firmware.
When I saw the problem with focus in my first movie, I did the second test movie immediately after making the first. There was no problem in the second movie. But when I made the next movie on the next day (after a several hours break), the problem has repeated.
It can mean that the problem results from camera interior heating, because in the second film (made immediately after the first) the problem did not occur.
But confirmation of this observation would require further testing.
Today I'm recording the next movie. This time with Q7. I am curious whether this time it will be ok.

As fan of Q cameras I have four questions about this system:
1. Does the Q system will be developed in the future?
2. When (if any) will be next Q camera?
3. When (if any) will be available the promised macro lens from roadmap for Q system?
4. Is it planned to develop other lens for Q in the future? The good idea to increase the Q system popularity would be to develop the new standard zoom lens with higher zoom index than 02 lens. Maybe 6-24 mm lens adapted from MX-1 (cheaper proposal) or even "megazoom" (better but probably demanding more investment). Even if it overlaps the 06 lens range it did not would compete with 06 lens because of high brightness of the last one.
The great advantage of the Q system is portability. I can take for travel the complete system in one small bag: the camera, standard zoom, wide zoom, tele zoom, fisheye, small flash, and mega-telelens (with adapted K-lens). This is not possible with any other system. And I do not want to lose that if the Q system will be canceled.

If there is a feature that Pentax camera has but other brands no (upper LCD in low-end K200D, in-body stabilisation, sealed body, etc.) this feature are sometimes not indicated by Optyczne as extra advantage of Pentax camera. Instead of it authors often show flaws of these features (no backlight of upper LCD in K200D is cons section; but which camera form this level have had upper LCD at all?).
One example (one of many) of "impartial" assessment by Optyczne.pl: in Pentax K-x Review the viewfinder (magnification: x0.85, area: 96%, diopter correction -2.5 do +1.5) was rated as "small and dark". But in Nikon D5000 review the viewfinder (magnification: x0.78, area: 95%, diopter correction -1.7 do +0.5) was rated as "crisp and clear". Why?!
In some Pentax reviews, Pentax cameras are compared to models of competitive brands from higher level but not from this same level. What is the reason? As you can guess, Pentax camera is a loser such comparisons.
Please compare features/quality of Pentax vs Canon/Nikon/Olympus cameras with final scores for these cameras.
At the end one exemplary score comparison with Dpreview prepared by one of Optyczne.pl users:

BTW. Whatever ratio you use while taking photos in Q/Q7 (4:3, 3:2, 1:1 or 16:9), the RAW file still contains full uncropped 4:3 RAW image data from the camera. For example if you take the 3:2 photo, in applications like LR you can move (up/down) the 3:2 frame over full 3x4 RAW image as well you can restore the full 4:3 image.
For example, I am taking photos in 3:2 mode (this is ratio of most of my prints, so I can see on camera LCD the image like it would be on the print). But if I want to rearrange the image (for example I see that horizon is too high or too low) I still have full RAW data to move up/down the 3:2 crop without waste the number of pixels in comparison to "original" 3:2 image.

Yes, Raynox works well with 06 lens (with use step up filter ring (40,5mm -> 43mm) instead Raynox universal adapter it is not heavy). AF works too but it is not necessary for macrophotography.
As example - photo taken with Q7+Q06+DCR250.
Sorry for this little off-topic continuation.
