My very old DA* 60-250. Most photos are taken at the beach when there is an airshow. Other than that, it is the air force open house that happens once in awhile.
My K-5IIs was replaced by a K-3III a couple of years back when it was released.

I have been photographing aircraft every since I started photography. These are my settings:

1. AF-S. Not AF-C. AF-C will constantly adjust focus and just slows down FPS. The aircraft will be at infinity anyway.
2. FPS. Medium setting, No use for 10 fps. It just fills up the SD card with duplicates. Learn to time your shots.
3. 1/2000 sec. I tried 1/1000 sec many times and even with SR there are evidences of slight object movement. My friends using Canon R5 are also experiencing the same thing. So I guess it is a physics thing, not a Pentax limitation.
4. F/5.6 to F/8.0 depending on the Sun. Depth of focus is important as Pentax cameras (even with my K-3III) do still occasionally miss focus every so slightly.
5. Multi-segment metering and +0.5 to +1.0 exp comp depending on where the Sun is shining.

Feel free to see my photos in Facebook.

Pentax DA 35mm 2.4 vs FA 35mm 2

I had the DA(L) 35mm 2.4 before but sold it cheap because it was very soft wide open. Anyway, looking at he optical arrangement I believe the DA is based on the FA, just that it is 1/2 stop slower.
If I were to buy another 35mm, I would choose the DA35mm Ltd Macro. The close focusing can be very useful, plus the build quality is so much better.

Battery cross compatibility - Pentax D-LI90 and Panasonic BLF19

I cycled the battery once and tested it. Internal resistance is a little higher than expected but at least the capacity matches the original.
It did not achieve 2040mAh but then it depends on the test perimeters and margin of error. Now I can only hope it lasts for many years just like the genuine ones.
I have tested many others but deleted the results. Most cheap batteries cannot even reach 1400mAh and IR are very high. Only Pisen was true to its rating of 1400mAh. But I can no longer find that battery.

Orange: Pentax 1846mAh

Kind of tempted to order one but I already have 2 Pentax WR flashes. It would be nice if it becomes official, seeing that now the Pentax Af540FGZ II has been discontinued as well.

One Pentax AF540 = Four Godox TT685 sans WR but includes radio control.

One of my recent favourite, so I thought I post it here. It was raining so the contrast was low. But water does make for a dramatic photo.

Ricoh updated lens roadmap (2023.8.29)

I hope Ricoh/Pentax will never take that path. I like the 'old school' designed-correctly-right-from-the-start type of lenses, not one that is almost useless without extensive software correction. I am not talking about the slight correction that I turn off in Pentax camera, I am referring to those with 5 stops of vignetting and 9% barrel distortion.

I know Sony, Fuji, m4/3 and Canon do it. I am not sure about Nikon. Maybe that is why I still stick to Pentax after 4 decades.

I remembered the AF360FGZ had a terrible battery cover. Had to tie a rubber band around the flash to keep the cover closed.

I like Hoya HRT CIR-PL UV because of the 'High-Rate Transparency film' that reduces light loss and lets in 1/3 stop more light than normal CIR-PL. I don't know if other brands use the same tech.
I bought 3 in different sizes but the oldest suffered delamination - from heat I think.

Chinese lens quality now matches Japanese???

Same for radio-controlled aircraft. If not for Chinese products many of us here could not afford the hobby. Models made in the west were so expensive. Initially the 1st generation of products were terrible, but now they are just as good as anything else in the market.
And then came the drones. DJI anyone?

I have both 201 and 540.

For the 201:
Dawn and dusk when you need to fill in the shadow - yes.
High noon - not really powerful enough unless you are close.

D-FA 50 macro AF fine tuning

I had a DFA100mm macro (oldest version with aperture ring) that suffered a similar problem. The AF micro adjust for infinity is NOT the same as for macro distance.
So I just tuned it for infinity since I usually manually focus it during macro.

I wish Ricoh would sell a screw-in bayonet mount adapter and a matching bayonet hood for the 50mm f1.4. Or maybe use the one from the 35mm f2 since both have 49mm filter size.

How about trying with another roll of film? I am guessing that piece of debris might have sticked to that roll of film and therefore is no longer in the camera.
