SD Card Recommendation

I swear by Kingston SD cards. I have been using them since my 1st digital camera. Currently I am using Canvas Go! Plus and Canvas React Plus in my K-3III. But the React Plus is a waste of money as the camera is unable to fully utilise the card's speed.

I try not to buy used. I had a couple of bad experiences. The lenses had defect that were not obvious initially. I never tried buying used camera because I wanted the warranty of a new set.

My very old DA* 60-250. Most photos are taken at the beach when there is an airshow. Other than that, it is the air force open house that happens once in awhile.
My K-5IIs was replaced by a K-3III a couple of years back when it was released.

I don't know if FB is being blocked here. Maybe you can try again.

1/2000 may seem fast but it is not really for aircraft flying across your view. I have been doing this for almost 40 years since the old manual focus, ISO 400 film days.

I have been photographing aircraft every since I started photography. These are my settings:

1. AF-S. Not AF-C. AF-C will constantly adjust focus and just slows down FPS. The aircraft will be at infinity anyway.
2. FPS. Medium setting, No use for 10 fps. It just fills up the SD card with duplicates. Learn to time your shots.
3. 1/2000 sec. I tried 1/1000 sec many times and even with SR there are evidences of slight object movement. My friends using Canon R5 are also experiencing the same thing. So I guess it is a physics thing, not a Pentax limitation.
4. F/5.6 to F/8.0 depending on the Sun. Depth of focus is important as Pentax cameras (even with my K-3III) do still occasionally miss focus every so slightly.
5. Multi-segment metering and +0.5 to +1.0 exp comp depending on where the Sun is shining.

Feel free to see my photos in Facebook.

Pentax DA 35mm 2.4 vs FA 35mm 2

Indeed it was a bad copy. No amount of AF adjustment could help. In fact AF adjustment would just make it worse. As for expectation, mine was already pretty low.

Pentax DA 35mm 2.4 vs FA 35mm 2

I had the DA(L) 35mm 2.4 before but sold it cheap because it was very soft wide open. Anyway, looking at he optical arrangement I believe the DA is based on the FA, just that it is 1/2 stop slower.
If I were to buy another 35mm, I would choose the DA35mm Ltd Macro. The close focusing can be very useful, plus the build quality is so much better.

Except for the 20-40 which for some odd reason has a non-Pentax-traditional 55mm filter size. I mean the designer could have just gone to 58mm, sharing size with the 55-300, 55mm and many of the older zooms and macro lenses.

Ops. I just saw someone had already commented on that.

Kind of tempted to order one but I already have 2 Pentax WR flashes. It would be nice if it becomes official, seeing that now the Pentax Af540FGZ II has been discontinued as well.

One Pentax AF540 = Four Godox TT685 sans WR but includes radio control.

Anyone came across this? Zero buyer so far so no way of telling if it is legit. No mention of it on Godox website either.

I hardly did slow speed sync back in those days. I was always using the highest sync speed possible for daylight fill. I consistently envied my friends with their Nikon FA, FE2 and FM2 with 1/250 sync.

I have no need for the 20-40 but would get it for the looks alone. Reminds me of those old Takumar lenses.

Not really. It is available in Asia. I had one. I actually prefer it to my LX. It is nicer to hold and the sync speed is 1/125 which is faster than the LX's

I was thinking, it does not have to be a full system. Just a body with 3 primes - 28mm, 50, 100mm equivalent. Similar concept to the Auto 110.

AF360FGZII not firing on K-3III

I examined my AF540FGZII and AF201FG hot shot mounts. When I turn the locking collar, the pin will extend out. AF20FG more so than the AF540FGZII by 0.5mm. I have no idea if the 540 plastic locking mechanism has worn out or it has always been that way.
Replacement part may be hard to find now I think.

I bet this confused quite a number of new users. Having a 'no flash' mode in a camera with no built-in flash.
Worth revisiting this setting - Still Image, page 2, 5th row to make sure the selection is correct.
