not taklking about the price, it's availability! all of a sudden you can find them, 3 months ago, nada. And trust me , I looked EVERYWHERE. one of my collegues found one second hand, a fellow pentaxian sold his because he was switching to nikon.

wait until the 13th of febuary, go through CP+ then have to wait a month or 2 for it to hit the shelves. In any case they did say first quarter 2014 for the TC, read it somewhere, i think...
can't wait to slap it on my K30 or a K3 and see what's what :)

Well the idea of a camera with switchable lens + sensor is a great idea. why not push the enveloppe a tad more? why not have the same system with interchangeable sensors AND lenses? makes more sense to have one camera with all the options that they all have and have multiple offerings for the sensor and lenses. You might want to get out your sports sensor and lenses (very fast, less Mps, fast AF etc) and for a studio shoot, with controled lighting: slower, more depth of color, more precise. Or you might want to take your everyday sensor, cheap, cheerfull with a nasty lens, for those moments when you don't want to risk a 2000 $ sensor and lens??
SO what does Ritax have that no other has? the base for this sort of machine! they remove the GXR, they'll have it back as GXR II with a fully customeable system. ;)
makes sense no?? :)
even might include the FF option for testing and preproduction runs before putting it into a DSLR frame :)

I think it's more in tune with versatility, why not have a few different formats, with different strengths. If you think along the lines "one format to rule them all" what's the point of the 645D, of microphotography, of telescopes, of anything but APS... hmmmm ??

well there's the possible issue with the program that communicates with the computer, the issue with multiple usb devices (not too sure it's like with IPs addys but from what my IT guy in the office tells me it's similar), then there's simply put your drivers with in the cam for the output. pretty sure there are more trouble spots, can't think of anything else.
personally
haven't tried going through the cable for the cam, always via card reader. I've noticed that most devices, anything from phones to cameras, to survey equipment, to video cams have, at one point, an issue with the "gods of usb". Take my little world of messed up cables. About 8 devices on the same machine. Now "normally" everything goes as it should, they all hook up sequentially and those on cable via usb can download their info. from time to time, and i don't know why, usb root goes mad and everything breaks down.
what size files are we talking about here? 400 pics after a days shooting can be quite the load especially if u're in raw format XD

well , in this case, unless you can show me there isn't space left in the K3 enclosure, i don't see why not. And that's beside the point.
we are speculating, not making definitive statements. from your line of replies, i can feel some hmmm, tension with this issue? have you seen the specs on the lastest Sony model? it has most of what the K3 has i terms of extras (mic jacks, input out put, RGB sensor etc... for a smaller frame! ok, there isn't stabilization on the sony model, but then again, the K3 is Approx. 131.5mm (W) x100mm (H) x 77.5mm (D) (excluding protrusions) and the sony is 127 x 94 x 48 mm (5.00 x 3.70 x 1.89″) so considering by how much the sensor has to move to be able to cope with the stab. I'm wondering if it's possible.

economics favor a FF in the K3 body to keep expenses down on ricohs side. If you set up a factory, tool it up to produce a certain model, you best make most of the pieces from different cameras usable by the most models. keeps the costs of production down. wasn't there a letter from ricoh concerning a factory hit by an earthquake? Now why would the company reassure people that all is ok, if their "eggs" where all in the same basket?

it's not the device that is getting the flak, it's a gadget, it's cute (can't blame the cuteness now can you?? :) ). What most people on the forums are bitching about is the lack of something tangible that reassures pentaxians of the commitment of ricoh to the brand, to our investment in their products. We haven't seen anything really important come out of the company since 3 years. And I'm not talking about remakes, or revamps, or gadgets.
No, we looking for a new flagship camera! something that says " THIS IS PENTAX/RICOH, THIS IS WHAT WE CAN DO!" more of a "why" product ( why buy pentax or ricoh? this is why!) not some sort of "how" or "what" product (how do you take 360° pictures? ... like this, 'click'... booooooring!) how can we possibly invest and identify ourselves to some sort of fancy webcam gadget which, frankly has been done before, or can be done with software?
am i wrong?
