I can't understand in this day and age of DSLR why people are so shy and weary about taking a shot that doesn't work. When you have the advantage to review your work straight away on a large monitor and to work with it if you feel you need to with a reasonable software package as soon as you get home. So, in the review process It's not like you've wasted film and chemicals and paper on a bad shot. What you don't like you can delete with no cost. One thing you don't get from a film.... you can't interrogate it like you can a digital image and read off the exif to review your shooting data. This can sometimes be helpful to the learning curve. So don't be shy or weary and remember a person who is willing to fail is a person willing to learn

Unfortunately I didn't get much further than Fort Sterling, but hopefully next year I want to get further up into the highlands and very much looking forward to it.

Just looked at the map and confirm it's the Crianlarich Hills and the mountain with the slumped side is Ben More.

I can't remember the exact name of the mountain range but I do remember it was around Crianlarich. What drew me to it was the geological fault in shown where sometime the past the side of the mountain has obviously slumped.

I thought that the arrow pointing at the rower was a very good subliminal cheat to get the eye to focus on the rower in the grey shirt who was obviously wondering 'why am I doing this?' Then you start to wonder if that is on the minds of the other two.

I was quite pleased with my efforts but see that there is going to be a great deal of stiff competition. This is my first ever posting into a competition following my purchase of a K5 last year and just starting to take my photography seriously. I guess I should have gone for some critique first in the regular forum? Still learning and drinking inspiration from this great site though.:)

Jerome K Jerome was how my initial thoughts were when I hastily chose the title Keitha. To be honest it was a late night back from the camera club when I posted it. Hope you like it all the same?

Hi just made the leap across from my old bridge camera (now disfunctional Fuji Finepix S5000 camera) of 10years to the K5 DSLR and am looking forward to experimenting and having some exploratory fun over the next few months though I would expect that, as in life you can never stop learning. Though limited in what you could do with my old camera, I am relishing getting to know all the extra adjustments. I am starting out with the standard 18-55mm lens and thought I should get used to that before investing in a 50-200mm zoom. Hope that I shall pick up some good information from this forum too.
