Looking for more information about a Sears M42 lens.
I have a 55mm 1:1.8 Sears and curious to who made it for sears, and if / what strengths / quarks it has.
Is it also safe to use with a PK adapter for a Pentax K20?

What versions of light room are you using? There was a big change in ver 4 and latter with auto white balance.

I was able to get this picture using k20d, and Bower 500mm f8 Mirror Lens. It costs around $130.
K20d + Bower 500mm f8 + Tripod & remote trigger
I had an ND filter, which thinking ruined having a sharper / more detailed shot. |

Something to consider, or at least evaluate the k20d. It's a significant step up from the *ist DL, and can find around ~$200 if you look carefully.
The new K-S1 being announced, I suspect the K5/K7 should be dropping in price soon.
That being said, if I could find a K5 / K7 affordable in your price range, I jump at the chance myself.

I have Vivitar 285, and a 285 HV and learned about too much voltage and digital camera's being damage.
I've been researching and the k20d does meet an iso standard so it has to at least designed to handle 6 volts.
I've tested the 285 and it max dc volts hits 8.1v, and the 285HV hits 7.1v.
The manual is vague, just a general warning about older flashes and too much voltage.
Researching the web getting conflicting info about the max flash trigger voltage k20d being 10v, 25v, to having built in protection.
Worst case, I may have to buy one of those adapters to prevent more then 6 volts from getting to the camera.

Mine was simple, I think Canon, Nikon, all good camera manufactures.
I started with manual 35mm film that happened to use PK mount.
My small manual lens collection essentially made my choice.
I have no ill against other manufactures, and really enjoy my Pentax equipment.
I love the old super takumar lens, but did not discover them until after I was on the Pentax route.

Thank You for that info, that's a great way to test the filter.
I knew some filters were poor quality filters, and not sure of a way to test them other then looking at user reviews.

I've been trying to figure out if my Pentax *ist DL need a Linear or Circular Polarizer?
From what I've read, if the metering is split beam, I need Circular, older, Linear.
I've checked the manual / online and uses a (3 point) SAFOX VIII AF system but not sure if that's split beam.
With manual focusing, I assume it doesn't matter which type it would be.

I've heard a way to test lens is to take a picture of a grid to look for distortion.
Is there any products that worked well? Is it possible to print your own for the test?
Any recommendations?

I have an Pentax Me Super, however, after taking a few pics 2-4, the film slips and no longer advances.
This is on the wheel with the white plastic film catch / wraps around.
Has anyone that used the Pentax Me Super come across this or is there a trick / quark about loading the super me?
I don't have trouble loading my Spotmatic F.

I've always had an interest in photography but have never done anything until a recent event opened the flood gates.
This forum has been a resource on researching some specific stuff and seems to have a great community and wanted to join.
Since buying my friends Promaster 2500 PK Super (35mm SLR) and extra's (tripod, lens, bag, etc) I've expanded my collection.
My primary current interest is SLR Manual 35mm. Being forced to think about aperture, shutter speed, composition, depth of field, lighting helps with my other new hobby of learning how to draw / sketch.
I can see color film developing becoming expensive in a few years so I tracked down an Pentax isp DL so I can still use all my lens. Digital
Pentax isp DL w/ < 10,000 clicks
Tokina SD 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 PKA. 35mm
Pentax Spotmatic SP
Pentax Spotmatic F (On the way :))
Pentax ME Super
ProMaster 2500 PK Super Lens
I went a bit overboard..
I love the Super Takumar m42 lens and have a 28, 35, 50, 55 and 135.
I have a variety of PK mount lens for the Spotmatic/Promaster.
I've learned a lot in a short time but still have a long way to go.
