I ordered an old pentax 28-80mm lens for 25 bucks on ebay and transferred the power pin to my newer lens with the broken contacts and it works great!
only thing was I had to unsolder the old pins because it had 2 more contacts underneath and the screws were slightly different size, so I used the current ones, but it works like brand new now, for 25 bucks
can't beat that..thanks a lot :)

Hey you know what. I have the exact same problem with the same lens, 18-135mm

and finally got to this forum page and just ordered a beat up 28-8mm power zoom on evilbay just for that little power connection part. No doubt it's cheaper than sending it in. probably faster too
