I understand what you mean... I have some shot of this flower with a black background which look good, but a white background makes it look ' pure '

This photo is from the same sequence, I will still be doing a re-shoot tomorrow.It looks like it's in the shot more, but still stands out, kinda what I wanted really, maybe a wider aperture would make it even better so that it wasn't completely isolated.
What do you think to this one ? It still needs cropping but I won't do that until I know what I'm doing with it i.e print on A3 etc.

Ahhh ok. I used a white piece of paper for the background so that it makes the colors ' pop '. I will probably reshoot it later today.

Any suggestions on how to improve this shot ? ( I need to crop )
According to another forum, the water droplet, which IS real looks like it's been photoshopped, and the colors are fake... These are the colors of an orchid :confused:

The portrait shot doesn't look to good, I think the radius is way too much.
The macro shot is better, but again it looks like it's haloing the Photo a little.
I think I will stock with Radius 1.3, 100 %, but will always experiment with other suggestions.

Hello,
Basically I just wanted to ensure that the majority of my Photo libary has been edited correctly. When it comes to the sharpening panel in Lightroom 2, I generally set the amount between 60-100 with a radius of 1.3. Is this O.K, I mean could I push the radius any more, or is this the ideal setting for macro shots ?

But with just organizing them according to date, means that you will always need to search using the search tool, as you won't be able to remember that a particular photo was taken on March 25th 2006...
I always keyword my Photo's with at least 2 keywords, but now I'm thinking of adding more i.e. the color of the Photo etc as like I said most of my Photo's are Macro ( and I only wish I had good landscapes and architecture where I live... )

With Organizing your Photo's ?
I have over 1100 Photo's in my Lightroom (2.0) library that are all in a 'Raw to be Archived' folder. So basically all my photo's are in the same folder. I have started to organize them into folders but I'm not sure how vague I'm been when it comes to the types of Photo's I have...
98% of my Library is macro, 90% of that are of flowers. Should I have a folder like this :
Macro
>Flowers
>Bugs
.... and so on.
Or because my library is mainly Macro, just employ folders based on what will they will contain i.e just have Flowers, Macro, Black & White all in their own main folder ? Also, say if I have a macro shot of a flower that also has water on it to add an extra depth to the Photo, should that Photo go in Flowers, or Water as I already have a water folder with water droplets etc.
Am I going to far into folder structure or not far enough ? I don't need advice on how to organize, just how detailed to do so.

I will take a look at that, having been on the web someone else tried Adobe gamma and has success. When you print from CS. do you have the print setting to perceptual, absolute colometric/relative or saturation ? The Epson guide says set it to perceptual, but changing it between saturations looks god ( on screen ) ...

I have just purchased a epson R2880. After a few teething problems, the prints ae outstanding. I finally have a good enough prints to frame my prints !
It cost £550, but there is a £100 rebate...

Hi,
I have spoke to Epson about my dark prints, and they are just blaming my monitor as it's backlit. He said that photoshop has it's won calibrator but since I don't know how to use it I though I would seek advice first.
Would using this apparent calibrator in photoshop help with mr printing output of just darken my screen ? I don't mean the actual setting for color space and printer profiles, just what is seen on screen vs what prints out.

I have tried that, and it does kind of work but you can tell that the red patch is still present, and the edges don't look perfect...

Hello,
I have pretty much edited the guts out of the below image and after changing it over and over again I want to start from scratch with the Original. Well, maybe not from scratch if I can eliminate the problems:
The bottom right section has a slight redness to it, and with the enhancements I've made it had made it even more red but the rest of the image i like.
I've got the DNG image in CS4 but i can't seem to get the look I got in LR as it involves boosting the blue sliders which introduces more red ( and changing the red slider doesn't help )
Is there a easy way I can either fix the edited version Or
Extract the dandelion head from the background and somehow get the same affect.
Also, I've applied a blur to the background using the ' cut' tool to select as closely as possible to the dandelion head, to get rid of noise.
I really want to get this Photo perfect so I can print it on A3 when I get the Epson R1900

Well I can remove the Focus Screen with no problem, but if i was getting a new one, i didn't want to risk getting it scratched, so I thought whilst Samsung have the camera they may as well replace it.
I just had a look, to see the postal prices and it will cost me about £10 to send it there, thats with a £500 pretection fee, should the camera get lost the postage serivce will reimburse me £500.

Quite a while ago I accidentally got a load of dust in the Penta Prism on the GX10 ( K10D ). Whilst trying everthying to clean it , i accidentally caught the focusing screen and now there is a large scratch, right the way across it. I contacted samsung asking how much it would be to be cleaned, they told me its more likely to be done for free, as its still under warranty and its such a small job ( I assume they will either use some sort of tool to remove the casing, or s specialized cleaning fluid or somehting ). Anyway I can't decided weather or not to go ahead with sending it off because :
I don't know how long its going to take
It may not be covered under the warranty
If no covered under warranty how much will it will cost
I am also thinking of getting the focus screen replaced, would this be better to have samsung do it , since they can do it properly without risk of damage, and they might supply the at a cheaper price than if i was to go out and do it myself.
Has anyone had their camera sent of to be cleansed, what was you're experience? Good, Long wait, Worthwhile ?

I rung them up again, this time they was more helpful, and they have imporved their whole service. They told me that becuase its such a minor job, it would be more likley to be done under warranty, I would just have to pay for deliverey which is fair. If they can't do it under warranty then they will send me a letter quating how much it will cost, and wether or not i want them to do it.
I did'nt ask about focus screen but it's something i can write in the letter when sending the camera off.
So i think i will get it packaged up and sent away !

Thanks for those links, there's quite a few options there :)
I did ring samsung up, and they told me that they could'nt give me a price or timescale, then i politelly asked if they could go speak with one of their technicians, after 15 minutes of waiting i gave up !
I wasn't sure if its worth getting a new focus screen - it will still look dirty with all the dust stuck in the penta prism. I might try again with samsung, and i will get back to you !

Thats what i was looking for thanks, but do you think samsung would only have to originals that the camera came with ?
I have used air to try and shift the dust - it hasnt worked. i tried wiping it with a damp micro fibre cloth - that did'nt work :hmm:
I might ring around to see if any of my camera shops would clena it, though there arn't many.

On My samsung GX10 ( same as Pentax K10D ), there is loads of dust specs inside the penta-prism. I have tried all sorts to try and remove the muck but nothing works. So its just being sat there for about 4 months now. I tried it again about 5 weeks ago but nothing worked, and i accidentally caught my focusing screen and scratched it quite badly. I know that it wont affect my shots at all, but do you think its worth sending it off to Samsung, to have the penta prism cleaned professionally ( any maybe dis-assembles if needed - can they do that ? ). Its just that i emailed Samsung months ago, asking if they could give me any sort of estimate, or time scale of how long it would take and ifs its even possible. They replied " One can send in their camera and our technicians will take a look at it". This is a very poor response compared to the service pentax gave me with my Macro lens, they were able to tell me the price ( although it was included in the warranty), and the time scale, so that put me off a bit.
But i also wanted a different focusing screen, one with the style of ' Rule of Thirds' type of grid, but so far i have not seen any like this at all and dont even know which types samsung could replace it with.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
