Ah. Thanks for the input guys. It looks like I'l have to try and recharge it once I'm home, or possibly buy a new one. I'm out of luck for that photo contest though :(. Was hoping to get a few windy pics of Chicago but was too slow to remember to bring a backup camrra. Lesson learned!

I haven't used my camera for a month now and as I couldn't get it to turn on last night, I left my battery charging overnight. I put the battery in the canera, left for the airport, and now I'm sitting here with a dead camera :(. When I turn it an empty battery light flashs on the top lcd. Any ideas?

I'm going to go out tomorrow and take some tests with it again ;) may be user error haha.
Focus to infinity manually is fine - in fact manual focus is perfect. the lens doesn't focus past infinity.
OOPs. Firmware update. right. i'll get to that tonight :P Thanks Na Horuk!

Oh god haha, live view with the k-5 is a nightmare. My copy also has the tendency to hunt when trying to focus to infinity. whenever i want shots of the sky, it would hunt and never obtain focus. I don't think that the camera focused on something behind the subjects - mainly because it happened to all of my photos that i took in harsh noon time light.
I've also noticed that my copy can't focus on anything white. walls, statue, shirt, it never works, even in a variety of other lighting situations. My 18-135mm never had these issues with the k-5 , so i'm sure it must be attributed to the lens.

After a week of shooting, i find the "plastic fantastic" to be awful in terms of focusing. Paired with my k-5, it spends most of it's time hunting for focus. And with screwdrive AF, that gets pretty noisy. Today as I was shooting out in harsh sunlight at noon, I found that it kept back focusing, which was never an issue before. It says focus is locked on the subject 2m away from me, but instead was actually at infinity. Do i just have a bad copy? should i try to calibrate the lens or just send it in and get a replacement from amazon?

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Pentax DA 18-135mm WR Asking Price
300.00 USD Item Location
Massachusetts (United States) Item Description
Lens comes with original hood, front, and rear caps. Bought as a "kit" from another forumer in 2013.
There is no cosmetic wear on the body. The front element has a tiny scratch (~1mm) that i couldn't capture in the photos. Includes a UV filter i've put on this lens since day 1.
This is the first lens i've owned and i have to say it's given me some outstanding photos. A bonus for this lens is the quick and silent DC motor focus. The WR has saved my butt a few times while out shooting in this new england weather also! I can post some sample photos taken with this lens if requested.
I'm trying to move onto primes, so I will entertain all offers. I'm specifically looking for the Sigma 30mm f1.4 HSM. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

I'm completely new to photography and have no idea why this happened.. i know it has to do with the slow shutter speed.. but can anyone explain why? shot with the k-5, 18-135mm wr, at iso 320, f5.6, and .6 of a second. @18mm. excuse the horrid picture  Attachment 182756 |
