WOW ... nice samples ... unfortunately, i bought the Pentax smc 35mm & 50mm today. I might have changed my mind and bought the 85mm if seen your reply earlier. Now am going to save some money in order to buy the samyang as soon as possible. I just have a thing for this lens haha.
Thank you all for your responses....

Actually, I like macro, but a macro lens is not a priority for now. I live in Libya, and i have a tour around the country "work related" in 10 days from now. thats why i need the 35mm lens, which i'll be using mainly for landscape photography, in addition to another lens for portraits and other related types of photography. bokeh is one of the main reasons that made me consider the samyang 85mm, in addition to the price of course.

I will be mostly using it for portraits & still life photography (flowers, buildings, etc...) .... and yes, I can handle manual focus.
In terms of Glass quality, which one shows a superior performance?

Am planning on buying two new lenses for my K-5, the smc 35mm f/2.4 AL in addition to the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 or the smc 50mm f/1.8.
Which one do you recommend?
P.S. I know that the samyang 85mm is fully manual lens.

I am new to this forum, and I was wondering if you could provide me with some help " or a recommendation"
First of all, I am not aiming to be a professional, I am only a hobbyist, and I would like to buy a DSLR "for the first time" ........ I live in north Africa "specifically in Libya", which is extremely hot in the summer, and it could get a little bit dusty some days. So a weather sealing is an appealing feature, i cant spend more than 800-900 $ for now, and i like Pentax's cameras, they are well known for their durability, I shoot landscape, night camps, and sports "from time to time". At the beginning i was aiming for a K-5, and with a little digging on the internet, I found a lot of users complaining about the autofocus performance of the camera in low light "front focusing in tungsten light" ......... There are the K-30 & K-50, but I am not sure about these two cameras .... right now the K-5 is available on amazon for about 770 $ with a standard 18-55 mm kit lens. With the left money I can buy a tripod, an SD card and perhaps an extra battery, or i can just buy the the K-50/18-55mm/50-200mm bundle for about 880 $ ........ so what do you think ?? ......... what do you recommend and why ??
Thank you for your time .....

correct me if am wrong !! ......... what you mean by focus/recompose is that you frame your picture first, focus then move your subject to the spot you want in the frame ........ how is that related to the focus problem of the K-5 !!? ...... forgive me for this question, i have no experience with DSLRs whatsoever !!

thank you all for your replies !! ....... to make things clear !! ....... am dead on Pentax .... and i want a camera that can focus in low light "such as sunsets and night camps" properly .......... if the K-5's focus problem is not an issue ... then tell me it is not !! ......... if you had the problem ! ..... it would be better to post an example and some tips on how to fix it !!........ in other words, do you recommend the K-5 or not !! ......the most important thing is the cost !! .......... since i can't pay more than 800 dollars "maximum" !! ........ would i be better off with a k-30 or a k-50 instead !!!?? ............. although i am a little bit biased towards the K-5 !!

Hello there .......
I was wondering if you could provide some help regarding my decision about my first DSLR !! ........ I want to buy a K-5, but I am a little bit concerned about the K-5's autofocus problems in low light (front and back focusing issues), a lot of user are complaining about it !! ............. and my question is : "is it really that bad ...... especially for a beginner ??" ......... the K-5 II is a little bit out of my budget ... that's why I didn't go for it !!
