So if I got this right, as long as I throw a TTL compatible flash on a V6 as a receiver, and trigger from a master V6, the TTL should work per flash unit? Even across multiple brands?

So I've been looking at a lot of flashes now (thanks for all the advice guys), and I have one more question. Most of the TTL flashes in my price range for this seem to lose that functionality once you pop it up vertically. Since I'm using a bounce card (DEMB) for the whole thing, TTL seems like it may be a little more useless. Due to the card would I actually be better off just running a full manual flash and save up for a good TTL down the road? Or am I misunderstanding some of these cheaper TTL guys and I'll still benefit from them in vertical bounce?

Question about that AF280T, I was playing with one a bit ago, and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me...most noticeable is that I couldn't flash compensate, or adjust power in increments. I could only adjust exposure by adjusting my aperture. Kinda limiting in terms of fill. Any suggestions on how to use/am I missing something about it? Also, with the metz, if I'm using a DEMB flash card, will the lack of horizontal swivel really be that limiting?

See I was looking at that too, but it doesn't have horizontal tilt, so I kinda viewed that as a big downer.

2 Questions:
First: I bought the camera over black friday, if I buy this now, can I still apply it to the camera (ie: is it within 30 days before or after?)
Second: B&H has it backordered and I bought my kit through them, if I buy the warranty from Adorama, will I still be able to cover my camera from B&H?

@Clockwork. Those are all dead links. and $1100 includes the 18-135. $1230 (all in) gets Camera, Lens, SD Card, and 4-year warranty. Also, quoting refurbished prices or a random side deal does not make it *The market average*. $2000 is still a lot out of my budget. Or at the very least is another lens. The income line from my work just isn't enough to warrant a FF just yet.
@Tanzer. Thanks for the input, but I'm just not a huge fan of Canon. In the long run, I'm secretly holding out for Pentax to go FF, or else I'm looking towards Nikon (unless Sony ups their game just a bit more).I've played with the K-5 for a while and ever since then it's just always been so intriguing to me. It's like a secret little ghost calling my name. Even so, a 7d is still a pretty decent chunk more expensive than what a Pentax will run for not a huge increase in features/performance. I'm also a sucker for build quality, and my work is almost always outdoor (ie: no studio work) so the WR and *built like a tank* side of Pentax is highly appealing for now. The 18-135 isn't going to be a go to lens for my work, but it's a good place to start. Tack on a 50, 70, or 85 in the next few months and I think I have a pretty decent *foot in the door* kit.
I hadn't considered the K-30 before, but I think it's something I should defiantly look into. That kind of savings is a pretty decent extra lens.

Nikon = $2400
Canon = $2600
FF either of these guys is still significantly more than the $1119 of a K-5ii. And from what I've seen/been reading. They're both actually not much better than a K-5ii at all. As far as upgrade.....the jump from APS-C to FF one day means a rework of gear anyways...so it's gonna happen when it can, not the end of world. Besides, having a camera built like a tank with great low light performance would make a great backup kit one day when I can afford to move up to FF. Just not practical right now.

Oh I do realize that FF is better for my long term goals, but It's simply way out of my price range. I have the dilemma of *wait 2-5 years with NO camera and save for a FF* or get a CMOS right now and at least get my foot in the door/practice/some paid work and upgrade when the necessity arrives. Also, I am also very set on getting primes. a 50, 85, and 35 will be my next purchases, but I just can't afford it out of the door. My debate was sticking to Kit or going Sigma/tamron just to get a functioning, somewhat decent lens to get started on. Thanks for all the responses though, I believe I've settled out how I'm gonna about this.

Hey guys and gals,
So I'm currently looking to purchase my digital camera, and of course, I'm heavily weighing towards a Pentax K-5ii and I'm looking for some recommendations. I do mostly portraits and a few engagement shots and up til now I've rented/borrowed gear since I haven't had the money. Mostly used a 5dii and a Sony A700. Finally though, I have about 1500-1800 to spend. I still have access to the 5dii, so I'm starting to kinda build my "budget pro" system on the side. Is the 18-135 WR a good buy and place to start here? Or should I ditch the kit and go different? I'd like to keep it under 1500 so I've browsed a Sigma 17-50 but I'm honestly kinda new in the Pentax department. I know a prime is the better call for what I'm doing, but I want to stick to a zoom lens in the first buy to give me some versatility while I learn the camera/leave my options open. Does anyone have any inputs/thoughts/suggestions?
Also....not sure if this is the right forum. Ha.
Cheers,
Steve
