I spotted two unusual birds feeding on the shrubs in my backyard. I quickly grabbed my camera and by shooting through the glass of my back window I managed to snap a few photos before they left. Following up, I identified them to be New Holland Honeyeaters and I hope they come back to visit again soon!

This Australian green tree ant was one of many from a colony in the garden adjacent to my balcony - where they regularly invaded looking for any food we may have dropped or bugs that met an unfortunate demise.

1 lens - da 18-135mm every time.
2 lens - da 20-40mm limited + dfa 100mm
If I had a da 15mm it would be added to both the kits above!
For your kit, I echo sandy’s recommendation of 10-17mm, 18-55 and 135mm

With the DA 40mm already in your kit, do you really want a 35mm macro?
I have both the DFA100 and the DA35 macro, but it is rare that I use the 35mm at 1:1 as it requires being to close to most subjects. It is more often used as a "close focus" lens, which your 40mm maybe good enough for.
Given what you already own, perhaps you would like the DA 10-17mm (0.39x macro) or sigma 15mm fisheye (0.26x) lens to try WA macro and just using a fish eye in general?

Don't forget background!
Often when taking action I focus on tracking the participant... and forget to look at what is in the background. It can make or break an otherwise good shot.
Also, a little fill flash can go a long way on a bright day.
Otherwise, follow HCC's advise.

Thanks to everyones recommendations in this thread.
I ended up finding a DA 35mm macro for a really good price second hand.. so I bought it!
I think it complements both of my lenses well; macro and brighter when travelling with the 18-135mm, while providing a more wide angle perspective when out with the DA 100mm macro. And given all the comments in the lens review section, I was very impressed with the AF speed on my K5; it's a macro lens after all!

Thanks for the overwhelming responses everyone!
I'm planning on using the WA macro as a brighter and closer focus (doesn't need to be 1:1!) lens (than 18-135) when out with the 18-135mm and a wide angle landscape/people lens when out with my 100mm macro. I'm rarely out with a camera bag, rather I carry any accessories in pockets so lightweight, such that I actually take the lens with me, is high priority.
I'd actually forgotten about the macro ability of the 10-17mm! If it was brighter or lighter it would be at the top of my list. I think it will reside on my N+1 list for the moment....
Given your responses, I think the 24mm sigma is probably the best compromise (weight/macro/brightness), assuming i can find one for sale, but I both the DA21 and DA35 ltd are still on the radar...
Thanks
Andrew

I currently own a DA18-135mm and DA 100mm WR macro. I've been thinking about purchasing a lens to accompany either of these lenses when I am out and about (I almost never take both of them out at the same time). As such, I was thinking a wide angle macro... but I'm finding it hard to beat the x0.24 macro of the 18-135mm. In particular, I'd like something that will easily fit in my pocket so, for example, Sigma 20mm f1.8 is out.....
So first, does anyone know of a better wide angle macro for pentax than a Sigma 24mm F2.8 (x0.25)?
Second, any recommendations of lenses that you have found "complement" either of these two lenses when out (my primary interest is nature photography).

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, but it looks like the Pentax DA 18-135 is now coming in a DAL mount on the new pentax K50. https://www.crkennedy.com.au/pentax/index.php?q=node/399
Second, rumors are about that sigma will be announcing mount swapping of lenses, which gives me hope we could yet get a 150mm f2.8 macro in k-mount!

First day using the DFA 100 wr. Happy with the results considering on-board flash and hand held.
