Greetings, all. I'm a newcomer to Pentax and DSLR photography in general. I just picked up a black K30 with the 18-55mm kit lens and I'm loving it so far. I chose it over it's competitors in Nikon and Canon because I really feel like it's price to performance ratio can't be beat in this price range and I really like the fact that it's not as mainstream.
I've always been interested in photography as I remember my grandfather taking pictures of me as a child with his Minolta film SLR, and even as a child back then I was obsessed with his camera and thought it was the most fascinating thing.
Up to this point I have only used some semi-serious P&S cameras. In the past, I've owned a Canon SD990 IS which despite being a tiny camera offers manual controls and I've gotten quite a bit of practice with it. Before that I used a PowerShot A95 which also had quite a bit of manual control, so I understand the basics of aperture, shutter, and ISO.
I'm hoping to learn even more from this forum and my new camera!
