On the K100d how do you get into the lens eprom editor. I am in debug mode and all that I can find are capture test, system test, and af test. Someone who has done this on a k100d please tell me what am I missing? Thanks

yeah but in the k100d's debug mode all i can find is capture text, system test, and AF test. And I go into system test and there are 5 lines saying "test item 1", "test item 2" and so on.

I have a k-3 and bought the k100d for the sole purpose of disabling the SDM in my 16-50 but in the instructions herehttps://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/208353-how-...m-f-2-8-a.html, in step 4 it seems like you load the file onto the lens but I can't find out how to do that.

Somehow the SDM in my 16-50 broke and I just bought a k100d to disable SDM and enable the screwdrive and I have looked at all the threads with instructions on how to do this but one of the steps is writing a file to the lens and I can't find the read/write function. Does anyone have experience with disabling SDM using the k100d and can answer my question.

It zooms and focuses manually fine. I have a k-3 and I couldn't find any instructions on how to get into debug mode in it so I guess I'll just send it in and go from there.

if it is a problem with the sdm motor in the lens could I just convert it to screwdrive?

can the sdm motor fail because of an impact?

I'm not exactly sure how it happened. I have been on the ocean for the past couple days so it could have just got thrown into something. I also have an outex waterproof cover and there is a front glass piece that screws in like a filter and I might have screwed it in too tight and done some damage. But now it focuses sometimes and when it does it is really really slow. Nothing rattles in the lens but when I listen to the focusing motor it definitely doesn't sound right.

There is something with the focusing on my pentax da* 16-50 and I am out of my 1 year warranty so I need to send it in somewhere to get is fixed. Is sending it in to pentax comparable in price to other places? Any advice would be awesome. Thanks.

I was just surfing B&H and came across this lens cover that is "waterproof" but there are cracks in the sleeve to allow the zoom ring to turn. Has anyone used one of these and how effective are they for protecting a non WR lens against rain. I want to get one for my Tamron 70-200 f/2.8. Thanks.

No actually I did see those and I actually thought they were fingerprints so thanks for clearing that up but no they are smudges. They are not straight lines and are so odd as to not be put there on purpose.

I would like to spend at little as possible so if it ends up needing to be replaced what is one that won't make what I'm looking at crap. I don't need one that is special for manual focusing or anything like that, just a plain ol focusing screen.

I just got a K-5 about a week ago and there are two smudges on the glass thing above the mirror (not the mirror or the sensor) and I have a couple questions.

1) What is this thing called?
2) Is there any way to clean it?
3) Will it affect ANYTHING except what I look at picture wise? There is nothing wrong with the sensor but I mean focus wise?
4) Does Pentax charge a flat fee or is it based on what they are working on?
5) Do they service non-warranty cameras?
