Checking Lightroom I find that I use both my zooms through their range.

At least a portion of PF is credited to the image sensor. When overenergetic UV photons strike the photocells they force some electrons to leak out to neighboring cells causing the effect.
So a UV filter can reduce this phenomenon under harsh daylight or fluoresent lamps (rich in UV)

It seems to me that the second picture is out of focus.... Conditions of taking the photograph?
I own this lens (TAMRON AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro) and Nothing of the sort has ever come up.

I think that Tamron focuses faster because it's focusing mechanism needs fewer degrees of turn per object to lens distance change than the Pentax 50-135. I could say that it has lower focus “resolution”. The price is that at great object to lens distance and wide diaphragm (shallow Depth of Field) there is always an uncertainty of precise focusing (it needs miniscule motor steps). I tend to shoot about 5 subsequent frames to get one focus correctly. The 200 vs. 135 mm focal length just make things touchier. Despite this, I choose the Tamron over the Pentax because of the extra reach and the way better CA and flare resistant behaviour. |

I have to take heliphoto 's side on this one... I you don't pixel peep you can’t judge the sharpness of a lens. You can judge a million other things, but can’t truly compare two lenses.
Downsized images from my 100€ Casio look as good as those from my K10 and DA 40mm /2.8 Limited  |

The lens arrived 2 weeks ago but couldn't make much use of it for most of the time. Preliminary findings:
Slight misfocusing tendency obvious at f2.8-4 when focusing to far away objects. I think that this is because of the very-very small step necessary to focus from 10m to infinity (the motor just "ticks" for that)
Very good macro
Excellent resolution and minimal CA.
I'll post photos as I take them.
For now there is a quick and dirty macro photograph with a 100% crop.Hand held, f11, 1/125sec, ISO 400, K10
Taken in raw, no post processing, just export to jpeg with Lightroom 1.4
On the weekend I intend to confirm the misfocusing problem with controlled conditions and the camera on tripod. Maybe I'll do some nature macro work also. |

After reading this and my unfortunate afair with the Pentax wide zoom, I think Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM remains at the top of my wish list even at 3 times the price of Tamron :hmm:

My new Tamron SP AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) on my K10 is too shy to show up a name in the EXIF. Is it normal for this lens?

I like to shoot player's face and body expresions. In the water polo case the subject is smaller, it's head and shoulders instead of the whole body. So statisticaly I use the 70 - 200mm range way more than shorter focal lengths. For basketball and volleyball what you say is true more or less. But I cann't afford both lenses right now.
When I shoot football I borrow my friend's DA 50-200 lens

The thing I need is an 70-200, f2,8 because I shoot Indoors sports (basketball, water polo) and the light is poor in there at night.
but for travelling 55-300 is a good choice.
