Hello,
My knowledge about Pentax cameras is pretty much non-existent as I'm a Canon person myselt (sorry, please don't kick me off the forum :o:D) but I promised I would help my Grandfather find a good new lens for his camera. He has been using the kit 18-55 (which in my opinion is awfully loud - is that normal?) and is now looking to buy a telephoto, however, in my opinion a good universal lens would make more sense. He just shoots for his own enjoyment and although universal lenses have their drawbacks in terms of image quality compared to designated telephoto lenses, I still think that the convenience of not having to switch lenses outweighs the negatives.
I found the Sigma 18-250 has been recommended quite a lot and I even found one that almost matches our price range but further reading brought up the issue of AF. If I understand correctly the AF of the lens does not work with the K100d? If this is the case could you please recommend any other decent lenses with a wide angle between 18 and 25 and the longer end in the 200-300 range that would work with the K100d?
Any help would be much appreciated!
