Hi. New Pentax owner near Pensacola, Florida, USA.
I am a serious amateur shooter, of any subject that interests me. In the last couple of years I shed my bulky DSLR set up, because I didn't carry it around with me much, and went with mirrorless cameras. I currently do my "serious" shooting with a Fujifilm X-Pro 1. I have a Sony RX1 that I love to use for travel and night time shots as well. I spent 3 weeks in Japan recently and did a lot of shooting. I was on my way to an art gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo, when I found myself walking through "Pentax Square". I went in and enjoyed the great photos shot with Pentax gear and also got to handle all of the current line up of cameras.
I was really impressed with the quality of shots that people are getting from the Q series and started thinking about getting one as a "pocket" ILC. After checking out the awesome camera shops of Tokyo, and seeing what the prices are at home, I decided to pick up a Q10 and some lenses as they are a lot cheaper in Japan. My intention with the camera is just to have something with me to take interesting shots that I may encounter during the day. I got a silver Q10 as well as the 01, 04 and 07 lenses. I haven't got enough use under my belt yet to feel like I have a firm grasp of the system but I'm enjoying learning.
I initially dismissed the Q system because of the small sensor but I've learned that Pentax has worked magic with these little cameras. I look forward to interacting with everyone here at the forum.
