Sounds like Pentax could easily modify the lens design and reissue it as FF. They could offer it at a lower price point for those of us who cannot afford the DFA 70-200mm. Why lose sales to Tamron and Sigma when the lens has already recouped their R&D costs?

Its the same sensor as the D800E, D810, right? Maybe updated a little. Yes, Pentax is terrible at advertising, but I'm sure we will see plenty of stunning photos once more top notch photographers get their hands on these cameras.
Valid concern. Files are pretty large, according to reports. But even 24MP files are not super small.
Don't think this is a problem. The 36MP sensor has the same pixel density as the K-5 series 16MP APSC sensors, and those are legendary as some of the best DR and noise in APSC sensors so far. The K-1 will perform better than the K-5IIs. I doubt any 24MP FF camera will deliver significantly better DR or Noise, unless you go with a very specialized camera like Sony 12MP A7S
Well, the K-1 still has FF and Crop mode, so you can use crop mode. And many DA lenses will work fine on the K-1 in FF mode, as well as all DFA, FA, and older lenses. I think that's something, much better than starting out with zero glass.
Yeah, Pentax really dropped the ball on this front. I think they just assumed that, since FF was such a big deal for Pentaxians, they won't have to bother with marketing, advertising. Mistake.
Well, on these forums I have seen responses like "don't let the door hit you on the way out" before. I don't quite agree with that, don't want to push anybody out, but hey, if you think the grass is greener, go for it. Some users left and are happy, some users started using dual system, but there was even a thread where people confessed that they consider it a mistake that they jumped ship. I just suggest you make a list of features that you need, that you want, and see which camera system brings them to you. And also that you hold both cameras in hand. Often this, the feeling of the camera, its shape, its button placement, its heft, are very important to the photographer. The K-1 will be relatively compact and in many way similar to previous Pentax flagships. Dunno about that Nikon
Good luck, either way you choose.

Well, it sure got me to activate my account again and login. Just purchased the 100 WR Macro, instead of jumping ship to Sony. Hope Pentax will reward me with some interesting news soon.

In the end is whatever makes you happy.
However, don't make your decision based on the fact that is FF. The differences between FF and crop are very... negligible.
Nothing wrong with either format... again, is whatever makes you happy.
I leave you with my favorite video from a professional photographer... and his argument of FF vs crop. Youtu.be |

I'm very battled inside, because of course I would like to win a lense (who doesn't?), but I am trying to do it in the correct way, posting only things in which I believe. Before today, I've been surfing daily this forum since May, but I felt very shy to write because of my poor english and my poor knowledge in Photography. In some way I am agree with you but I have already seen people telling to everyone, me included, how much beautiful are their pics. ALL the pics. :hmm:
Anyway, I love this forum and I know that if you don't want you don't have to try to win,so... here I am. I will try. With my difference of time and my clear conscience.
I just wanted to say my feelings.

I think so too. The way the current giveaway is defined will lead to extra hot air being transferred with no guarantee of any else. This was proven last go around and, if anything at PF, it is the one thing we already have abundantly.
How about an old fashioned 'random' giveaway? ..all can enter and one name drawn. voila.
Or even a 'find the secret word one a webpage in the site and submit it' type contest... Last time, people were posting junk and having friends like their posts.. you could see the cliques here.
In any case, fantastic prizes this time around. :)

I chose this photo of my Autistic daughter and her partner at camp. She has an unbelievable love and admiration for horses, this horse was the first horse she truly connected with and the shot was one at the end of camp, as she untacked him and got ready to say goodbye.

A couple of pictures of the break on the south coast of Adelaide. Middleton to be precise.
Oh, and some shells. It's a nice beach. And the 'antique' K100D Super is still a great camera! :)
