Uh, by the way.
Rolling Shutter is no big issue with the K-5. The new sensor has a much faster readout! You'll be stunned when new material of the K-5 hit the web!
The new sensor as a REAL benefit for all the moviemakers. HighIso with extreme low noise (kind of like the EX1/3) and little rolling shutter.
I was really impressed at the Photokina!

Hi,
i'm currently trying to use the internal flash for controling the Metz. I turned the [C]-Menu #31 to [Off] But the internal flash is still flashing(witch is basicly correct) but it can still be seen in the picture. (ƒ2.8 @1/180)
Does anybody has/know this issue? Do the Pentax flashs have the same behaviour ?
K-7 Bug?

Seeing is beliving ;-) i told you. i hope pentax will do a firmwareupdate to help us with this problem...

I think it is you. Never heard any noise of SR in my material. The SR does not make any sound at all, wich might be hearable on video

I can't confirm that. i my nightshots the lowest framerate was 30fps. no slower shutter speeds where possible. i'm pretty sure, because of the flickering lamps caused by the net frequency. thats why i really want slower speeds(1/25). but afterall this stays only speculation since there is no display of the actual readout framerate.
I spoke with a productmanager of Pentax today and told him again on this issue. I made clear that this would be a great step ahead. He said he told the japanese engeeneers about it. we are waiting for a reply.
He told me, that we have to understand, that is was not the concept to create a videocam, but more a playing around with storable liveview. That is how i understand it. But with this aspect, i think, Pentax did a real good job. they had no experince with "real" videocamcorders, you have to keep that in mind.

ok, maybe i will give a preview, yeah i think so. i will check bach soon...
for interest: the material is noisy, but still has a high dynamic range

Hi,
just did some outdoor night shots. No tempreture warnig, not this lines. so i guess it was the heat.
and yes the link is 40limited.blogspot.com - what else ;-) thanx for the hint.

Temprature Issue.
I recorded some clips today in real heat and heavy sun. I got real fast "the temprature warning" sign.
I decided to ignore it and continued filming. After reviewing the material on my pc, i can see vertical lines wich i've never seen before.
i think this is a readout error caused by high teprature (exiftool says 40°C Camera Temperature ?! )
I will have to do some more analysis on that. check my blog for the pics

Ah, I see. My Vids finaly found a way to Pentax Forums ;-)
Let me do some remarks to the material:
All clips are only some experiments, i tried to push the K-7 to it's limits, due to the fact that i'm really short in time.
The Fish and Bike Clip was only intented to try a mounting. I mounted the Cam with a Manfrotto "Magic Arm". Wich is really the wrong methoed to mount a camera to bike. So it was more weight test for the magicarm and the SR of the K-7. Btw. Try this with a tape based cam! You will have no rolling shutter but nice drop outs ;-)
So, what is the conclusion of this test. The K-7 can handle very rough treadment, this good to know, isn't it?! ;-) (See picture)
The DA*300 clip, had two results: Always mount a 300mm the way it should has to be. Use the tripodclamp! Otherways will have a bad shutter day...
The second thing we learned was, that there will be no artefacts in postprocessing. This is really good news, because the 0.00 firmware had real problems with that.
the other clip there is a clip from a greenscrenn studio. it was a test how the raw material will handle in such postproduction situations. the result was not amazing, but good. at least for the use in downscaling and web use. with a light optimistic point of view, we would consinder the material near broadcast quality for PAL/NTSC/SECAM formats. but not HD broadcast.
A real pain in the you-know-what is the missing shutter control. i got in real trouble doing night shots, because i got a flicker from the electricity frequency witch is 50HZ in germany. Some Gas-Discharge-Lamps and dimmed Lights will produce real heavy flickering. (You can see also in the "night skater movie")
for that reason we europeans need the possibility to change the shutterspeed! i'm still waiting for reply from Pentax on that issue.
I will upload some of the critical shots later.
I hope you could understand what i'm writing here. i'm not a native speaker and in a little hurry so please excuse my english.
Bye

If you are planning this, you should consinder to get a good video-tripod, if you haven't one already. Freehand recording will not give good pictures (RollingShutter), but it depends on your standart. For freehand documentation in "TV-Style" a normal camcorder will do a better job.
You might be interesrted in my blog and my youtube account: http://www.youtube.com/user/strang17 40Limited
there will be full test review about the k-7 videofunction. it is mostly in german, but i will try to translate it to english.

you can't upload mp3 files, if i'm not mistaking?!
Illumitation was "normal" Daylight indoor, two windows, 20m^2 room size about 20°C, light breeze by northeast, two birds were flying by the window, my green car was parked in front of my house.
Focus aim was the tip of the mic. always focusing from ∞ to ca 50cm

yep. LR 1.4 and PPL/PPB (3.61) cannot covert .pef files. (yet?!) I've had read, .dng should work.
Apple's FinalCutExpress(3.5.1) can import the .avi-Files of the K-7 without problems.

Can't confirm that. only as i said before, the SR locks in faster than before.
It, turns out that the Darkframe-behavior has changed. If set to "Auto" no Darkframe will be processed at shutter speeds slower than 10sec!

Just copy the ".bin" file on your SD Card. Do not move it into any folder (eg DCIM).
Thats all.

First impression:
SR seems to lock in faster. locks now even if AF isn't ready. (in some conditions)
