Wow I love this photo.
Only things that I would think to change would be that things don't seem incredibly sharp. I'm not sure if this photo was planned or you just walked by it. You have a relatively low shutter speed so handheld the camera could blur things up a bit. Other than that, I really think this photo is fabulous. Also, I'm sorry if I'm saying things you already know. Nice job on this!

I don't have much advice on that since I started out with a dslr but I just wanted to say that those are some stunning photos you have there.

Try playing around with the white balance on the K-50. Assuming its the same as the K-30, you can press the WB button while in manual mode and switch through all the different kinds. It will show you the effect of that white balance setting on the last photo that you took.
If its not the white balance, try playing around with things like saturation and contrast in an image editing software.

Wow these really are great. I have no idea what "steel wool spinning" is but it makes for some stunning shots.

I agree that pentax cameras are more durable and such than others.
As to their comment, ignore it and stand up to your uniqueness! Its bias.

Always nice when you make some beautiful mistakes.
Usually leads to some of my best shots.
Overall, really great shot.

My fourth lens for the K-30 was the 10-17mm pentax fisheye.
If you're into that kinda stuff (fisheye), its really nice. It creates some really interesting shots.

One thing I noticed in these photos is that the point that you are focused on is not necessarily the subject.
For example, in the first picture, presumably you want the reddish white part of the flower (not sure what its called). That is relatively in focus but then there is no light. Its not a crucial thing but could help lead the viewer to what you want them to see.
Other than that, these are some really nice photos. Nice job with them!
Edit: I know re-read your description and see what you said about off center subjects. So short version, No.
