nr flashing on top plate

Yes I think that is the case.
If anyone is interested I have been trying out a Machine Mart welders mask replacement glass as an ND filter, it also fits into a Cokin P holder.
A green cast is produced which easily removed and the results are reasonably good.

After taking a long exposure say 5 mins it takes about 5 mins again for the preview to show, during which time "nr" flashes on the top plate LCD, is this normal?

Cheers Guys
Does anyone know if the mirror flipping also triggers the shutter?
Cos if it does this could shorten the shutter life.

K3 sounds like an automatic weapon

Well not quite but...............
After a long shoot of two hundred images or so my K3 suddenly started to make a rapid clicking noise as if the mirror was flapping.
This was happening at the rate of several hundred per min (in fact too many to count).
Turning off the camera did not help, I only managed to stop it by removing the battery.
Re-inserted the battery and all well.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what may have caused this?

Flucard ip conflict

The Flucard has the same ip address as my router, so when putting 192.168.1.1 in a browser I get the router login page and not the Flucard.
Turning off the router then doing the same will get me the Flucard. this is not ideal.
My question is, can I change the ip address for the Flucard and if so how.

k30 and k3 manuals

I am a little puzzled as to why the K30 has a far more comprehensive manual of 290 pages, yet the more complex K3 has a manual of only 107 pages.
I find that I need to keep referring to the K30 manual when searching for help on the K3.
I am missing something here?

About to buy on ebay a FA SMC 100mm f2.8 Macro ( the older metal body lens not the D-FA) the macro ratio is 1:1 does this still retain 1:1 on a K3?
Any views on the lens would be good?
Is £270 a good price for a Ex+++ lens?

Looking for a new prime lens for table top work

Hi all
My set up is a K3 on which I use a couple of Sigma telephoto lenses however even when using a tripod and remote release the results been far too soft (tried various lengths and apertures).
I tend to take images using studio flash of various household objects for submission to stock libraries.
I have concluded that the lenses just don't have that extra bite that I need.
Can anyone suggest a prime lens either from Pentax or other that would fit my need.....and true macro would be of benefit too.
I know its a broad question, but any answers would be appreciated.

Sling straps - A warning

Having recently purchased a sling type strap for my K3 I feel I must warn others about my mishap.
The strap from a reputable maker was secured to the tripod bush of my K3 and the connection was checked often during the day, however it unscrewed and the camera fell onto a concrete surface.
The lens a Sigma zoom hit the ground first and the hood broke in two, the camera only had a slight scratch on the top plate and apart from that appears undamaged.
I have been lucky and I now use an elasticated neck strap at its maximum length and wear it as a sling, and it is just as easy to use but far more secure.

Can I set my popup flash as a trigger for an external flash.
The flash is a Neewer manual type.
I need the popup to fire a week burst of flash, just enough to trigger off camera flash.
Any Ideas, anyone.

Thank you

Replacement part for K3

Cheers Guys
Just put it down to a battle scar I think.
The accident was caused buy using one of those harnesses which threads onto the tripod socket, the maker claims that they will not come loose.
I doubled checked the tightness and locking collar, so I now use an addition small strap attached to the camera lug. so be very careful if you use one of these.

Replacement part for K3

Hello all.

My K3 suffered a drop from about one metre onto concrete, it landed on the lens and the hood took the force out of the fall by shattering, however the top of the pop up flash unit has a minor abrasion.
As it is just a cosmetic plastic cover held on by four screws I would to buy another cover.
Can anyone suggest where from?
Incidentally the camera does not appear to have suffered any other damage (touch wood) a testament to the build quality and the strength of the metal body I think.

Thanks all

K3 halo around objects in live view

I have noticed that when using live view on my K3 every object on the screen has a silver outline ( a bit like a halo except that the silver lines are very sharp).
However a soon as the camera focuses the view returns to normal until the focus indicator bleeps and then they re-appear again, Images are not effected, but it is very annoying for a camera of this class.
My K30 does not have this problem.
Can anyone make a guess before its sends me nuts :)

I have a old (15yrs) Cobra 480 flash gun dedicated at the time with all pentax camera, anyone know if it will be ok with a modern pentax DSLR.
I know flash guns in general fire a small voltage signal back to the camera, so I am cautious.

Is it possible to copy images from one card to another card,by swapping cards within the K30. I know my old Minolta could do it.
Thank you.

Hi Guys ( and of course our dear female members)
Just joined the forum.
I live in Englands best most beautiful county (Northumberland) just south of the border with Scotland.
Within easy reach are the wild moors, miles of unspoilt beaches and islands, the lake district and of course bonnie Scotland.
Yes you guessed I love landscapes and the outdoor life.
Hope I bump into some of you out here, just look out for the weather beaten guy with grey (oops blonde hair) carrying a backpack and sometimes accompanied by my ever faithful German Shepard, who is lying asleep at my feet as I type.
