Confirm problems with METZ 58 AF-1. HSS did help for some shots, but suddenly gave up... strange...
Pentax 360 (old model) did not work correctly the first day, suddenly gave up. The second it did work, but even in P-TTL mode it overexposes :(
SIGMA lensen (70-200 & 120-400) I don't dare to try ...
Battery: with GPS on approx 300 - 320 pictures. Not enough for half a soccer match...
AF, in combination with 24-70, seems slow, but I have to test further. Is it the lens or the camera? :)

I also want to thank Adam and the crew for organizing such a great contest with a terrific price!
Please remember we are all enthousiast photographers in a friendly and Free environment. All comments on the organization and structure are therefore for me incomprehensible.
We have fun, and if the rules are adapted to number of entrants, it's no problem for me. So again thanks for the organizing (a lot of work!) and you have have motivated me to participate more in pentaxforums.com activities.

Own K10D, K7 and K5-IIs. With the K7 shot a 3 sec movie... yep, it works... deleted it and never again...
If I wanted to shoot video, I would have bought a video camera!!!

Seeing this beautifull pictures, I realise I still have a lot to learn :) Great shots, no exceptions!
My first selection went down to five: 11, 14, 18. 20 and 5. In the end, one have to choose, I selected:
11 - the emotion, the impact of the figure at the fire!
18 - could be in the NG magazine...
20 - a very strange photo, which I normally wouldn't even have liked. But in a certain way I kept coming back, looking again and again... Well done!
Shame I couldn't pick the other two also :) The woman behind the window is worth a spotlight position in his (her) own and 5 has for me the glamour effect.

WET GHOSTS
It's dark... lonely... cold ... and you are afraid. VERY AFRAID! They were looking for you... THEY FOUND YOU! ... And now... all there's left, is waiting... WAITING FOR THE END!
---
Shot was taken during a theater performance in the open air. No photoshop, only resizing / light / color ... They were really walking in the water... As I was there on behalf of the organization and this was the final rehearsal, I could ask some favors ;)

I think we have two different worlds: the 645D and the 'rest'. Of course, in a few years the 645 will get a successor, but as far as I can predict not in 2011/2012.
For the 'other' DSLR, I think this range is a likely possibility:
I - unknown - Pro, Full frame - I don't know when :)
II - K-7 - Prosumer - will be replaced in 2011? Each replacement is of course also an upgrade!
III - K5? - Enthousiast - introduced in 2010? based on K7/K-x
IV - K-x - Entry level - will be replaced in 2011?
More than this is not needed: K10/K20D, K200D and K-m can be discontinued (and some are already :) )
Lower as K-x is in my opinion not the market for PENTAX

PENTAX is missing lenses in tele range. Indeed, a DA* 400mm F4 would be a nice start, but also a 500mm is a must... PENTAX is an outdoor camera, sealed, but has no lenses for wildlife.
Beside the primes, there is also a market for tele zooms. It could be a DA* 135-400mm or a 200-500mm. SIGMA sells the 120-400 en 150-500 HSM lenses, so there must be a market.
And yes, for the primes, TC's are long overdue... An 1.4x, 1.7x and a 2.0x please. Of course SDM and WR.

I've the 16-50 and 50-135 (both SDM) and the 70-200 and the 120-400 (both HSM). I really can't say there is a lot of difference in AF speed and/or lock. Most of it, as always, depend on the situation of the shot...

Strange, I would assume people looked first at the latest SIGMA lensen with SDM support. In this case the 120-400 or 150-500mm...

If you mean the 70-200mm, it does work with the KENKO 1.4x TC.

Sorry, no direct link as this is, afaik, not in production any more. Keep an eye an Ebay and also KEH.COM has sometimes this teleconverter. Price is between 100 and 150 euro.
Please pay attention: there are several kinds of KENKO TC's and only one, marked with powerzoom, is the one which supports SDM lenses.
I know several people using this in combination with a 300mm zoom. Personally I prefer always a lens without TC to one with TC. I my view a TC takes half a stop light, has difficulty focussing in low light and mostly is less sharp than a zoom. I use the TC for "emergencies" or in combination with a prime.
In this topic Het Nederlandse PENTAX forum - Kenko 1.5 TC op DA*300 a forum friend has posted some photos of the KENKO in combination with the PENTAX DA* 300mm prime.

Strange. I have just bought a SIGMA 120-400mm and it works with my Kenko 1.5 TC. Also a friend of mine tested his new 150-500 and this lens also works with the Kenko 1.5... Both lenses / TC combinations work with SDM...!!
The Kenko 2.0x does not work with the 120-400mm.

Perhaps there is reason: both the FZ30 and the K10D were "best in class" at that time. Great performance for a reasonable amount of money...
So, we have just an eye for quality :D
I also had a FZ30 with a Raynox wide, a pola, 2 batteries ect... I just bought it for my photo course. In my mind was always: learn first the basics, learn what you want of a camera (type of pictures ..) and then select the stream (brand, type) of DSLR camera which fits...
After one year I knew I was an omnivore, so my camera should support everything. It also should be rather "semi pro". I ended up in a choice between NIKON D200, CANON 400D, NIKON D80 and .. PENTAX K10D. D200 was to expensive, 400D was to small for my hands. D80 and K10D were on par. I really liked both camera's. The in body SR plus the widely available old lenses gave edge to the Pentax. I never, ever have regretted it.
My old FZ30? It's gathering dust. When I sell it, it worth so little (compared to the amount paid) it prefer keeping it.
The K20D I'll skip. Perhaps the K30D will be the camera which will replace the K10D eventually...

You don't buy a perfect camera and then leave it at home and take only a p&s !!!
I always take my K10D with me. Of course, a good camera bag is essential for going into a ride..
K10D (and your K20D) is also splash proof, so even photo's of wet attractions are possible.

Born in Amsterdam, I know one thing for sure: one day is not enough!
The suggestion to start with a boattrip through the canals is fine. Although an evening boattrip is also very spectaculair. Most canal boats start at Central Station. When you come back, just walk straight ahaed to the "Dam". Monuments, shops, the palace.. Just walk at leisure, stroll, look also above head level (gevelstenen, stones/ornaments in the wall).
Musea according to every taste, but I personally don't find them a good photo opportunity...
Like ZOO's? The take the canal boat from Central Station to Artis, a very old, but weel kept zoo in the middle of the city. Near Artis is the Tropenmuseum.
Depending on the weather, a stroll through the Vondelpark is always good for some shots of people you didn't know existed :-) From families to artists, from homosexuals to beautifull models, in the summer everybody is here...
De "Keukenhof" is also very beautifull. I know Holland is small, but is ain't in amsterdam :) I think you either have to rent a car, or take an organized trip...
Feel free to pm me for all questions you have....
