I would second the Hoya Red Enhancing- works pretty well and much cheaper then filters dedicated to reducing the sodium lamp influence.

I have used the Hoya Red Intensifier for astrophotograpy. It does help with sodium light pollution.

Thank you for the replies - it is not something I am in the habit of doing but more curious about the "issue".

Thank you for all the testing! I too would like to see if the magenta hue "issue" could be figured out once and for all.
How are people dealing with the hue in their images? Does it process out easily or is the image typically ruined?

New bodies but when I got my K-5II all I could afford were used lenses. I have since bought a mix of used and new.

Yeah my Pixel with Pie also crashes constantly. It does not surprise me with the API changes.

I watched the video and could not get over the drama aspect of it, the whole "not enough pie to go around and that is depressing" I found off putting. I did find the opinions interesting and wonder why they did not use more current information since (as mentioned earlier) Nikon announced a mirrorless and his statement that Pentax badly needs to upgrade the K-1. Strange a two year old body is that out of date.
My take on this is I got 5 years use out of my K-5II and I expect to get that with my K-1 and I will worry about the landscape of DSLR or mirrorless when the time comes to purchase a new body. If Pentax is indeed doomed and fails before then it is not like my camera will stop functioning so I can continue to enjoy it regardless. When I choose my next body I will look at what the Pentax offerings are first and then compare to the competition to see if it makes sense to switch based on my needs then compared to now. In the meantime I am not going to worry about if Pentax makes a mirrorless or not and will just continue to enjoy what I have.

I am not sure what to make of this, I am a "beginner" that bought a K-1 II because I could and it offered me some things that my previous K-5 body could not - mainly the articulated back screen and I like the connectivity options. I did not buy it thinking my pictures would look better, but more a tool that I could grow into.

I too am curious what people come up with. I have been shooting raw exclusively on my K-5II but whenever my wife wanted to use a photo it was not convenient for her to convert. Now with the K-1II I have Raw + Jpg and I like the overall look of the jpg files but am always on the look out for "better".

When I was researching my first DSLR to replace my bridge camera I found this site and saw the enthusiastic fan base and looked more into the brand. I chose the K-5 II because it is not the other brands and Pentax has a passionate fan base. It did what I needed it to do and I will admit that occasionally I wished it could do what those "other" brands could do (tethering and wireless mostly) but now I have the K-1 II and am happy.
To tie into the original post - I know the video was not cutting edge but I have yet to use video on either camera. I agree with others, I would get a camcorder if I needed video that bad. Right tool for the job.

Faster wireless connection! I have had a few cases that taking pictures at daughters softball games I wanted to upload a picture or send one off to someone else. It works currently but I would not mind faster transfer speeds.

I got my Q into a few venues that prohibit "professional" cameras. The Q can do quite well indoors.
