Yes, the M42-to-K adapter makes sense. And looking closely at the lens it does appear to be an adapter glued on. Was just a little disconcerting to attach the lens and not hear the "click" to lock it in place. Lens works beautifully though. Thanks for your insight.

Not sure about this mount. It's on a Soligor C/D 200mm F/2.8 which I acquired in a large lot of old camera gear. It works fine on my K-30, but the mount is different, as it has no notch to lock it in place. Anyone know more about this?

Thanks for all the welcomes! No camera yet, but am getting (slowly!) through the manual. It appears Pentax attention to detail includes their owners manuals!

So after many years of point and shoot digital photography, the yearning for an SLR (which came from decades with a Canon AE-1) has finally won out, and a new K30 is in the mail. I was surprised that my research of which camera system to go with didn't point me to Canon or Nikon, but Pentax. The package of features fit just right and the sense that Pentax was more serious about photography than marketing glitz sold me. Glad to be with you!
