No its black and white film. My girlfriend got it developed and scanned. I haven't gotten ahold of the scans yet, just ripped these off Facebook via my phone.

Not sure if these look good. Had the girl in these photos pick up the photos from the camera store and I downloaded them off her facebook so the quality might be lower than the scanned image.
Don't know what film I used, just recall it was 400 iso black and white.

What's disappointing is I thought I had color film loaded. The sunset over the water was amazing and I used a colorized polarizer filter to really make it pop. Here's the shot of the scene with my 5d using the colorized filter:

I agree. Though they can't scan that large. There is a drum scanning place nearby though I haven't tested them out yet. At $10 a scan I need to make sure I pick the right ones.

Ya know, I'm not entirely sure. The film was sitting in my camera for so long I even forgot the film speed. I THINK it was portra 400 but I'm relatively new to shooting film and can't pick out the nuances of each film (it must say on the negatives?). I just had the local camera shop scan the negatives (at that resolution) so I could see if I wanted to get high quality scans.

does the 50/1.4 experience focus shift? Regardless fast 50s are difficult to manually focus. Have you shot using live view?

That statement on my part may have been a bit preemptive. I am not so familiar with Pentax FA and F and A glass and maybe it would be appealing.
:lol: check out the medium format section and you'll see multiple posts of people speculating on a "full 645 format". It is less popular though because even hasselblad, mamiya & phase one make crop medium format sensors. Some more cropped than others.

Why would someone compare 135 format and 645 format, they are much further apart than aps-c and 135. It would almost be like comparing your k3 with a 645d and I have yet to see that because they are two different markets. aps-c and 135 share the same market space.

First off let me say I am in full agreement that excellent photos can be taken in all formats, film and digital (including instagram and diana's). I'd also argue that current full 135 format digital sensors out perform the analog 135 counterpart (detail, speed, shutter rate, and overall ease of use) so that comparison is moot. Maybe if Leica didn't use it and 135 died out digital slr makers would view apsc as the 'ideal' size. I don't know enough about lens design to determine if that's the case. What's been pointed out by the OP, 135 is the current "standard" in the digital market, the majority of which is held by Canikon. The best lenses in their lineup play to the full frame. Will it shift to apsc is the question.
Forgive me for stating the obvious but there needs to be both. A sports or wildlife photographer will need an excellent apsc sensor with a high frame rate and enjoy the len's 'sweet spot' (being a canon person I still think the 1D should have a 1.3x crop). Someone who doesn't need the reach, wants a bit less DOF and bigger pixels (which correlates to better low light performance and less diffraction) will choose a "full 135 frame" camera. At the moment medium format decreases your frames per second and exponentially increase your cost with no high ISO benefit due to the CCD sensors- which is a good thing.
Bigger in many ways does = better. Smaller in many ways = better.
Pentax can skip the full 135mm format. I wouldn't buy a pentax "full frame". Would you? I would buy a 645D priced competitively to the D800E though.
edit: and yes I agree 100% about the consumer culture not being sustainable. My digital system is an old first generation EOS 5D. It's showing it's age but I'm planning 2 more years of ownership before upgrading. For a camera that'll be 10 years old this year I think that's pretty impressive in this digital age.

Thank you for the reply. About the pose, yes we had to come up with a pose that allowed her to stay perfectly still. Something to work on in the future though! Closer and a lower crop is not a bad idea. I'll keep practicing!

You will love it if your sample is anything like mine! I am also planning to purchase the 75 and 45 in the future, but for now I'm enjoying the 100mm macro and 165mm.

One last question, do you know how much either extension tube will reduce the minimum focal distance. Not looking for macro just looking to bring the minimum focal distance closer to 2-3 meters.

Not to side track a thread, but does anyone know how the 400mm Takumar performs with extension tubes. I'm interested in picking one up and would rather not pay the extra $ for the ED IF if it performs okay with tubes.

I think pentax does have a competitor for the D800e, it's called the 645D. IMO I think if pentax could come out with a successor with minimal updates (figure a shutter that lasts 100,000 clicks instead of 50k being high on the list) and sell it for a competitive 4-5 grand -and it needs to be that low to compete with the D800/D800e- they could make much more in the development of glass, something Pentax is excellent at. Skip full frame completely and give me an affordable successor to the 645D and I'll sell my canon kit and motorcycle to afford it. Priced over 5 grand and it makes more sense to go with the much more versatile D800.
