Welcome! I know your pain of a camera and the struggle of having it co-operate, believe me. Hope you enjoy the forum..post some photos and have fun:)

Thanks! I am still deciding on my camera..what to do. So while I have a love/hate relationship with my camera I will still keep trying for that one "great" shot for my wall.

Hi, I am Kris.
I originally had a K100 but had issues with it in it's second year. Apparently it had issues working in the heat. The shutter would not fire at all if it was hot out. 2 years in a row on vacation in Cuba, it did not work. I sent it for repair after the first time (they replaced the board). The store warrantied it after the third time brought in and gave me a new K-X body.
The K-X was good for the first year, now the auto-focus tends to take over the camera. It will focus on it's own, not having to touch the button.I can literally put the camera on a table and it will auto focus on its own. When that occurs, i have no menu, no option and have to shut the camera down to stop it.I also have to manually use the flash as it tends to go off at inappropriate times in auto. Sure I could ALWAYS use Manual (argument with my Brother), but the whole point is to have a camera that functions in EVERY aspect, I should not have to only shoot in Manual to have my camera work 100% of the time. Have I got warranty? Sure with the store.. Am I sure they would send it to Pentax to have it fixed? Yes.. I can re-create the problem quite easily..but can PENTAX? who knows? Am I sure that I want to do the "bring it away 3x's to be replaced" dance only to get another Pentax body? No..unfortunately I am a little bitter on the Brand right now.
I hope all of you have better luck with yours!
Cheers!
