I'm using disposable Energiser Lithium for now, but I really should get some rechargeables.
Thanks, that's very useful info. Looks like the Ikea batteries might actually be rebranded Eneloops at a lower price, so definitely worth a try.

I'm expecting them to use the magic brightening glass from the K-3iii's prism to make an f/0 lens. Hopefully a weather-sealed pancake. With a DC motor. In silver. Real silver. $199.

I took this literally the first time I used the HD DA15, I bought it for a proper photography trip down in Connemara in the west of Ireland, been going there my whole life, always took photos but this time with good gear at last. Driving down I saw this scene and jumped out of the car at Killary Fyord, manual exposure f8 with 1/500sec.
Edit: This was essentially the out of camera version, I did PP several versions with raised shadows so you could read the engravings on the graves. A monochrome version was also much liked when I posted that several years ago.

Since Google doesn't provide a translation I, {a very satisfied KP user} will: "a long time has passed with no APS-C 'flagship' on the shelves, with little expectation of seeing a K-3ii replacement in the next six months".

I use the 10 year old K7, and there is no doubt about its ability to produce images far better than a camera phone today, assuming I am taking advantage of the whole point of a DSLR system .... ie using a range of good lenses effectively, or specialised optical accessories (eg extension tubes, filters), or using a flash system and lighting which integrates with my camera.
All of these things that make a DSLR system elevate even my 10 year old camera well above the potential of todays smartphones. Also the resolution of the sensor ("only" 14.5mp), I believe will still allow much larger quality prints that most camera phones ..... Your KM is really a similar case. Its all about how you use a specialised photographic tool to its full advantage....
Here's the old K7 in action..... I'm not sure if anyone could take this photo with only a smartphone ? ..... and yes, its an open challenge! |

Here is a this morning shot at 300mm with my HD DA 55-300 [non PLM]. No live view. No PP. I find I must use a monopod with this lens at 250mm+ with shutter speed lower than 500 as I am just to shaky. With PP the image is very sharp but the camera you use makes a difference with this lens [at least with my lens!]......with the K-3II this lens is wonderful. The photo is the back side of an African Violet.

I urge you to try Darktable (for Windows, assuming that's what you're running). The de-noising options require some learning because there are many different approaches open to the user, and initially I found these quite frustrating. I just couldn't achieve the same quality of results that Lightroom 6 gave me. But you can bypass that frustration and benefit from my learning curve, as I now firmly believe you only need to learn how to use two of the tools... "equalizer" and "denoise (bilateral filter)". And unless you're shooting at quite high ISO and have a lot of colour noise to deal with, you can get away with just using the "equalizer", as it's very powerful for both luminance noise and low-to-medium levels of colour noise. I now far prefer the noise reduction capabilities of Darktable.
The latest version of Darktable is incredibly capable for raw development, but lags behind Lightroom in terms of cataloguing - but since you're not so interested in the latter, you won't mind.
