Colton Allen’s wife Tiffany has posted of his passing on IG (@daiku_san).
Many of you would be familiar with Colton’s wonderful colour photography from the US. He was a regular poster to the film shots thread as Swift1 and contributed many wonderful articles over the years.

This is one from the 3rd issue of my photozine Twenty One of 35. When I first published this issue, I decided that I wouldn't post any of the images online anywhere. It's been over 3 years now so I have slowly been posting a few of the images from that issue.
If you are unfamiliar with my photozine series called Twenty One of 35, it is a set of photozines that I made a few years ago. The general idea is that each issue is made up of 21 images from a single roll of 35mm film. If you are interested, send me a PM and I will give you more info.

This is a common scene I take a picture of to compare different films and/or to work on my development time. The window dressing is different each time though.

I put together some quick statistics of my used Vintage SLR, Rangefinder, and Scale focus cameras purchased on eBay and came up with these stats.
Out of the 16 cameras I purchased on eBay, 5 were non-working and beyond repair while 1 was able to be repaired. So that's roughly a 62% success rate. By and large the 6 SLR camera's had the least amount of issues whilst the older rangefinder and zone focusing models had the bulk of the issues which was not surprising.
Total loss came to $127.49 or about $25.49 per camera. But I am keeping them as they do make nice conversation pieces on my mantle.

It's often said that a CPL is the only filter you still need for digital and all the rest can be replicated digitally but a graduated ND is also very useful to save time playing with digital files when shooting landscapes.

Looking back on some of my earlier photos, I noticed this, and wondered how we coped without auto-focus, rapid-fire, continuous focus, when I hear complaints about the latest technology's short comings.

A 2019 fireworks shot. Clear skies plus the water adds a lot more light for about the same exposure as 400TMY above.

I hot-swapped some Delta 100 to try it out on the fireworks. When the exposure gets too long with too many fireworks bursts, it's more difficult to get an interesting pattern. The 400TMY/Delta 100 I carried is a convenient combination because I develop them both with the same developing time in the same tank.
