Thats where I saw an adapter with the internal glass and the reason for asking if the K3, or indeed any Pentax camera can use an FD lens without an adapter with glass. I don't want to start hacking at my lenses just to use them on one particular body. Perhaps a bit more research is required for a suitable camera.
Many thanks everyone for your replies.

I currently use a Canon 7D and have had quite a lot of success using my collection of M42 lenses with this body. However, I also have a collection of Canon FD lenses, which I occasionally use on my old Canon T90. I am considering a Pentax K3 to get better flexibility from my manual lenses, but did read somewhere that I would still need an adapter with optics to use my FD lenses, this is the problem I have with the FD lenses on my 7D. I can use my Canon FD 100mm macro with an adapter with the glass removed, but would like a camera which can achieve infinity focus with both sets of manual lenses.
Any advice would be appreciated.:)

I bought a Vivitar 28mm M42 lens from a charity shop, which is in all-round excellent condition. Close focus is perfect, but unfortunately I am unable to Infinity focus for a distance greater than 50-60 meters, no matter what aperture I use.
I have removed the rubber cover to the aperture ring and found 2 small screws, one above the infinity focus mark and one above the letter "M", (see photograph below). Could these in some way be the focus adjustment, if so can anyone please point me to a tutorial how to correct this problem?
Any help would be very much appreciated. IMG_1750.JPG Viv 28mm with Zeiss by killwilly, on Flickr

Hello everyone, my name is Alan from the UK. I have had a Pentax Optio for many years, which I don't use much these days. However, I do have a few M42 lenses which I do use on a daily basis on my Canon 7D. I also have a number of FD lenses, which sadly I am unable to use on the 7D, but occasionally use on my Canon T90
I think my next digital camera purchase would be a used body that can take full advantage of my FD lenses. So, will be spending a bit of time here and learning what would suit my needs best.:)
