Sorry for the delay, I am very busy these days. That's also the reason why I cannot comment on each of your photos, as I would like to do. The winner is Ivan - his picture is a very smart realisation of the theme, the escalators make for a great composition, and the motive itself is a pleasant sight. Well done! Now it's up to you, Ivan, to host the next challenge.

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to yet another edition of your favourite photo contest. As I was trying to think up my theme for this round, one thought crossed my mind: While the quality of the entries in the latest editions always was beyond doubt, the quantity was slightly, well, underwhelming. So this time it had to be a theme which would attract masses of participants. My first idea was "pictures of persons standing in front of famous sights", but this would have been a bit of an overreach. So I went with this: Primus Inter Pares, meaning, of course, the first among equals. Meaning: Your picture should show several more or less equal subjects, but one of those subjects should stand out as the clear and unchallenged motive. The subjects can be people, animals or things, that's up to you. I give you one example to make things clear. Have fun! The fine print:
Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.
The Challenge will run until midnight next Monday, March 25, whichever time zone you are in.
Rules
1. Post ONE photo.
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme. 9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge. Thanks Hattifnatt for a great challenge and for choosing my picture as the winner from some very good, yet few submissions. You'd think a theme like this would have attracted more entries, but maybe photographers aren't interested in women any more. What do I know? Anyway, I'll come up with a new challenge later today.

Hello there, thank you all for your contributions. They were not so many, but as we all know, it's quality that counts, not quantity. And there was quality indeed, a lot of it. Everyone interpreted the theme in a unique, inspiring way
Here are my thoughts on each entry: Kerrodown - great contrast and colour effect. Mysterious, dark mood, I couldn't figure out what "Thing" was. ramseybuckeye - spectacular shot, the bird is very well captured. The sky is surreal. atupdate - another great capture of a bird. The empty blue sky goes well with the colours ot the seagull's feathers. gump - brrrrr. The lonely camera conveys a very disturbing feeling - where's the photographer? Lost in the ice? Eaten by a polar bear? Ah well, somebody had to take the photo... Vaskebjorn - great colours, great composition, incredible feeling of width. The sun looks like... well, what does it look like? noelcmn - perfect composition, expertly matched colors. The feather seems to float over... well, over what? jacamar - another great composition. I particularly like the pastel like bokeh. pacerr - the colors of the lily contrast beautifully with the black background. AstroDave - fantastic image which rises a question indeed. Very well balanced geometry, fabulous colors. jcdoss - you really made an "ordinary" item stand out. Fantastic lighting. Minimalism at its best.
In my opinion, each of you has sent in a very convincing interpretation of the theme. It wasn't easy to pick any winners, but here goes:
3rd place: noelcmm - perfect.
2nd place: jdcoss - perfect +
Winner: AstroDave - perfect ++
The margins, if any, were incredibly tight. I would have put the three winners on the podium together, but unfortunately this is not possible. So it's your turn to host the next challenge, AstroDave!

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the first edition of Pentaxforum's world famous Weekly Challenge in 2024. I hope everyboy's New Year's hangover has worn off, so we can concentrate on the important things in life. To make things easy for you, the theme for this challenge is minimalism, meaning your picture should show (and tell) as much as possible with as few elements as possible. Other than that, you can choose your subject freely.
The contest will close on Sunday, January 7 at Midnight CET. Have fun!
Rules:
1. Post ONE photo only.
7. Any Pentax or Ricoh camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.
