Thanks,

Thank you guys. I will be honest I bought the lens out of curiosity because of few good comments I read. However, the replies I got here surprised a bit. Anyways, I will attack the lens with the guidelines from the link PJ1 posted (thanks for that as well) to see if I can fix that tiny little bent.
I anyway consider buying one of these tools, thinking that I may come across more of problematic lenses since I am an eBayer. What do you think of these two? Anyone ever used any tools like them?
This one?

Hi,
What is your opinion about CZJ Tessar 50-2.8? I bought it from eBay for a fair price however it arrived with a very slight bent, barely noticable on the focus ring which makes front element move so difficult while focusing.
I read good comments about it but does it worth to buy $60 tool to fix the bent?
Or anyone has any practical idea to make it perfectly round again with spending more money???
Thanks,
Murat

M42 Pentacon Auto 50mm f1.8 MC

I said "what the heck" and I opened it from behind.Removed the aperture blades and blew the dust away. Luckily there was nothing between the front elements. I think they were not dust but the metal coating peeled off the metal ring which the aperture blades sit on. Putting the blades wasnt a problem. And the rest of the actual dust was between the rear elements. It was 2 mimutes job to open it with a 10 dollars spenner wrench. And it is just like new now.
I was lucky this time.
Thanks for the feedback anyways. :)

I haven't had this particular one apart, but I've had a few similar 50s apart. There is no way to reach the front element from the rear, you can just reach the rear of the element that is in front of the aperture blades.

The aperture is in between the two concave elements.

What have you tried to use to remove the name ring?

I tried with rubber gloves, some lens caps with rubber and a buthtub plug. Its very stubborn.....

Hi,
I have a Pentacon 50 1.8. It gives decent images so I believe it is worth cleaning because there are huge dust particules inside.
The front name tag ring is so stubborn. So I want to enter from the mount. Anyone has any experience? I would appreciate advices.

Mamiya Sekor SX to EOS adapter

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a mamiya sekor 55mm f1.8 to use on my Canon DSLR and I found out that it is not really compatible with most adapters, definitely not compatible with my two adapters.

Has anyone has any experience with this or successfully altered the lens mount? Or any specific type or brand adapter on market?

Thanks all in advance,

Murat

Hi everyone,

I am Turkish but I live and work in Dominican Republic. I am a photo enthusiast and eBayer.

I am actually a Canon user but since for a while I follow this forum. Especially I started paying attention to the M42 lenses and using them on my DSLRs.

I will be posting some test shots of my M42 lenses and I will seek advices from all members.

Until the next post, take care,

Murat
