Yeah my Toploader Pro 75 also had too little raincover included, I did cut it's rubber band holder and dispose raincover and replace with normal plastic bag. I did check again and looks like shoulder strap hooks are metal indeed (did confuse with other 5$ only china bag) but shoulder strap is made from 2 parts and these parts are combined together with plastic ring.

I had same problem last week with plastic mount cosina zoom, did fix with about cheapest copper foil tape found in ebay. But in ur case cos mount is metal I do scratch black paint off, no need to play with tapes.

+Zoom lens, in this case tamron 17-50
For kids party I normally use tamron 18-200 with flash (bounced or with light modificator). I like extra reach, flash will freeze moving kids and can set f11&1/180s and no need to think about camera. Protector filter is good idea

As said above manual zooms can less sharper than kit lenses but there are very some good ones too. Good brand old primes should be better than kit lenses, actually I have only one old manual prime made in Korea that is not better than kit lenses.

For Protecting from scrathes only I have found cheapest lcd protectors (for mobile) working fine, something like 1$ each. Just buy little bigger size than ur camera lcd and use skissors to cut it about right size.

Much under 100$ Sigma/Vivitar A 24mm f2.8, with around 200$ Sigma 30mm f1.4. Those are very sharp second hand lenses between wide and tele, just perfect mm for many kind of use. M-28 is good FL and lens too,FL maybe absolutely perfect.

That A70-210 is looking very sharp. I like Lowepro Toploader 75 AW if take only one bigger lens for a walk, around 35$ in ebay or aliexpress.
