Hello Fellow Pentax Owner
Thank you once again for sharing your wisdom.
I did take these pictures in raw format and then converted them to jpeg for emailing etc.
Here is another sample which I did little work on in light room to clean it up a bit
As mentioned in the comments section, there is no single recipe for taking Astro photography and its all about experimenting, which I plan on continue to do as I did make lot of mistakes in my first attempt
Picture was taken at Anza Borrego State Park in CA. On the right side of the picture, you can see the mountain top called the Indian Head. I see it more like a sleeping head ;-)
Thanks again

Hello Fellow Pentax Owners
This past weekend, I tried to experiment with shooting the milky way.
I read a lot and tried to prepare myself for it and, I know in order to make it pretty, I need to have a fixed object such as a tree or mountain etc but I am not ready for it as I am trying to get my basic right.
I have attached a picture for critic, I used a sigma 18 to 250 lens - 18mm with F3.5 shutter left open for 30 sec and ISO at 12800 at manual setting using the K5 2s.
What I would love to get some advice and or tip on is how do I capture a sharp image...I noticed that even after having the camera fixed on a tripod, I got movement which is obvious on the picture attached.
I took several other picture changing the ISO down to 6400 and 3200 and keeping the other setting the same. I did not post those pictures as I am using the 12800 ISO as an example to learn more about sharpness.
Thanks in Advance
Regards
Ro

Hello,
I saw this dead tree lying the local Bird Santurary in Irvine and when I saw it as a whole with the reflection in water, it remind me of a hammer ;-)
Thanks

Ok So I did the update on the firmware and went from 1.0 to 1.04 and the AF was was working well after the update.
I just brought this K20D few months back almost brand new in the original box. Makes sense on why the firmware was old.
Thanks everyone for your help and advice

I just checked the camera firmware and yes it does require update as I have version 1.0. Since I am unable to extract the updated file at work due to admin restriction I will have to wait till i get home to update the firmware.
I will post and let you all know if the update helped
Thanks for the feedback

Hello All, I need some guidance and assistance in regards to using AF function on the Sigma Lens with Pentax k20D. I recently got this lens and have it mounted correctly on the Pentax K20D mount but I am unable to use Automatic Focus. I am able to turn the Zoom ring but when I press the shutter button its does not allow me to do 1)Half press to focus 2) Sharpen Focus But takes a picture which is completely auto of focus. I have used Pentax lense before 55-200 DA and it works fine with this camera. I am wondering if its user error or the contacts from the lens are not connecting properly or I have to fiddle with the menu to turn on autofocus. Thanks in Advance for your help and advice Regards Ro |

Hello Fellow Photographers,
I have been reading the Pentax Forum from the sideline for past few months and today I finally joined after purchasing a Demo Model of Pentax K20D. This is my first DSLR and I am hoping to gain valuable experience in the world of DSLR utilizing this camera. The lense I am using are DA 18-55 and 50 - 300.
I got the camera from a local Photoshop that had purchased it from a Camera Store that went out of business and this was the only Pentax in stock (They carry Canon and Nixon). The price I paid was $110 which makes me think I made out like a bandit since its around $579 new with a 18-55 lense on Amazon.
The camera is in good shape and my hope and expectation is to read and learn from fellow members on this Forum
I was wondering if someone could help me out in fig out how many clicks this camera has had(in regards to its usage prior to my purchase)? Is it on the LCD screen under recordable images?
Please advice.
Regards
Ro
