I've been reading posts on this forum for quite a while, so I thought it was time I joined. I've been retired a few years now but got my first Pentax (a KX 35mm SLR) back in 1977. Then a few years later that was followed by a ME Super. Just when digital was about to take off, I ventured into autofocus film SLR's with a Pentax MZ-5 in about 2002, a very nice camera with no complicated dials and buttons to figure out. Probably the only unwise Pentax purchase was a Pentax Elfina APS compact. A nice camera that I got new but cheap on ebay, but film & processing wasn't cheap, so its hardly been used.
In 2010 I bought a Pentax K-x digital SLR. For a short while you could get them in colours other than black, so I chose a silver one. When I bought the 35mm cameras, that was the normal colour. Now I quite fancy a K50 because of its weather resistance, which would be very useful for me, but at the moment I can't really afford one. The bulk of my photography these days is done as a contributor to a website called Geograph, which collects photos of geographic locations in the UK & Ireland, as an archive for both now and the long term future. Living in central England, there are a wide range of interesting places that are easily accessible to me.
