Will do. No not under warranty I don't think, I bought it second hand a few years back.

Yes I've never done that.
I'll ask a repair place but these lenses seem very cheap for the quality so might just get another.
Thanks for your help.

Yeah I'd say it does feel like it's not quite right.
Might see if I can get someone to look at it...

Same here. I get more shots that I like with the DA 35 Al than with anything else.

Despite my DA 35mm AL behaving strangely at the moment, I can add that it is excellent. Incredible value vs performance.

Hello.
I use this lens on a K-5ii running the latest firmware.
The lens has suddenly started doing something odd. On AFS and AFC it can't focus at infinity. Everything autofocuses fine up to a few meters away, but after that it doesn't and the image is blurry. So I can use it normally with close-range shots, but not at longer ranges.
The problem is the same on Live View mode.
If I switch it into M mode on the camera body, I can focus on further away objects, but I have to turn the ring a tiny amount further than normal - further than the 'smooth' limit of the ring's range and requiring more torque, but the camera can't do it in AF.
Before, the whole focus range was all within the normal, easy to rotate range of the ring.
My other lenses work fine.
I hope I've explained this clearly.
I don't know anything about focus calibration and adjustment and have no idea if that's even the problem.
Any advice much appreciated.

This thread is inspiring and depressing in equal measure! I'm nearly ready to put a couple up though. Frederic, where is that landscape shot third from last in your last set?

Beautiful.

Maybe I have a bad copy. I'll get out there and do what you guys have been suggesting though before writing it off...

@luisalves very good. There's no way my 55-18 kit lens can do that.
Oh no, the wallet is coming out!

The shots in this thread
Really impressive, I need to get practicing. I'm a noob here, hello all.
Had my K-5ii just one day! Loving it already.
@Rondec, those shots are so crisp. I see they were taken with a smc PENTAX-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited.
I've only got the lowly 18-55 DA L WR kit lens so far. I'm getting some ok shots but nothing with the clarity and crispness of those pics. Would I be right in thinking I'll be needing a lens of the 5mm F4 ED AL Limited's calibre to get that sort of quality?
I have a Pentax-M smc 50mm F/2 on the way, got it for a very low price. Looking forward to trying it out.

I'm learning the ways of the camera, it's so capable there's a lot to it. Like the layout and menus etc.
Trying some RAW shots today, using it is fairly new to me...
Trial and error here I come.

Yeah can't wait to get stuck in. Really impressed with the K-5 pictures thread, very inspiring and the photographers here are a bit good aren't they?

Hello.
After much deliberation I went for a K-5ii with the kit 18-55 WR lens.
Battery is charging, really looking forward to giving it a good once over.
It was between a Canon Eos 60D, a Nikon D7000 and the Pentax.
The build quality and weather sealing was the clincher for me, along with the vintage lens culture. Looking forward to some quality photography again, this is the first 'proper' camera I've had for years...
