Ignoring the variation you are getting when applying pressure to the pcb.
Your speed testing method is far from reliable because you have no way of knowing the accuracy of the Canon shutter you are comparing it with, in any case by making these sort of comparisons you are in effect comparing the travel time of the blinds and not the actual exposure time
More importantly you may be trying to obtain the impossible, a focal plane shutter should be accurate to within ±25% for exposure times longer than 1/250 and accurate to within ±33% for exposure times shorter than 1/250. In practise the absolute accuracy of a shutter speed is not important as its consistency. If a shutter is consistently slow, allowance can be made for this, but not if the shutter speed varies from one exposure to the next and if it isn't varying outside of these tolerances without you applying pressure on the pcb then I would suggest you are wasting your time trying to get it better than the manufacturers originally made it.
For proper shutter speed testing you need either a calibrated speed tester or an oscilloscope with a light source and sensor.

I would guess that either the top cover is shorting out the wiring or it is somehow applying pressure to the meter movement causing it to jam.

Black or clear nail varnish (nail polish) works very well as the adhesive, just a few drops applied into the groove with a cocktail stick. It dries very quickly so if you put a spot on the start point, press the yarn in then leave it to dry for a few minutes you can then pull the yarn fairly tight and apply further spots as you fit the rest of it.

The MX viewfinder is -1 without additional diopters, so if you normally use glasses with a power of -2 then an additonal -1 will be sufficient, going for too high a value can make things worse.

Seems to be a common thing to do if you're using it for video.
I don't do video but the only advantage I can see is that it would allow you to do fade in and fade out shots.
To my mind it is just an easy way to ruin a good lens.

The marks that show on the bottom of the frame mainly in picture 2 don't look like light leaks, more likely uneven development caused by insufficent agitation during processing. The marks normally coincide with the film perforations.

Those shots are much better, really shows the camera's true capabilities.
I have always found that if you want decent scans then you need to do them yourself.

Thanks for that, so it doesn't look too hopeful. I did find a post elsewhere that suggested the prism from a Minolta XG-1 would fit so perhaps if all else fails I will try that.

I have replaced seals in about a dozen different cameras, quite a few different pentax models. I have 2 S1a's that I have operated on and managed to do the mirror foam without dismantling the camera, it isn't easy but it can be done. I never use foam for door seals, I always use black double knitting wool. After cleaning out the old foam (that's the difficult bit) with the help of a small brush I apply black nail varnish inside the goove and press the wool into it before it dries, easy to do and makes a perfect light seal.

I posted this a few years ago but I see in my original posts that it was posted via a hosting site that is no longer working, so for anyone that may need it here it is again.
This is an enhanced image of pentax original.

Definitely a case of sticky shutter, the original lubrication has dried up and is now slowing the shutter.. If the shutter doesn't close with the right amount of force then the mirror is not triggered to return to its down position. Poking it with your fingers won't help and could cause more damage. It will be quite an extensive strip down and therefore an expensive repair, may be cheaper to look for another camera.

I frequently use a variety of Pentax K and M lenses on my Canon 50D without problems. The lenses should not need cutting or modifying and will not interfere with the cameras mirror, this only occurs with a few lenses when used on a Full Frame canon such as the 5D.
Ifi you cannot get the adaptor to fit on the camera without the lens then it does look as though the adaptors are at fault.
It is sometimes quite difficult to mount a new adaptor on a lens because they can be very tight, if you look at the inner edges of the adaptors bayonet you will see that these have a cut in them, this cut is there to give some degree of adjustment to the thickness of the bayonet mount. If the mount is a bit loose then you simply insert a screwdriver and prise it open a bit to increase the thickness. If these have been opened too much during manufacture then it can be very difficult to get a lens to fit on the adaptor.
Any problem with the lens not locking into the adaptor can usually be cured by adjusting the sprung lock tab, this has slotted holes and can be repositioned by loosening the screws.
Although all K and M lenses have the same bayonet there can be slight differences due to manufacturing tolerance and some lenses do seem to fit slightly easier than others.

I upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10 and wasn't impressed.
There was no driver available for my graphics card so it just ran as basic graphics and I lost a lot of the cards capabilities.
It decided that one of my printers was too old and again there was no driver so that wouldn't work at all.
Once I had disabled all of the uneccessary flashy effects that I didn't need I found I was really back to a poor imitation of windows 7 with extreme limitations.
After a month I wiped the lot and reinstalled my old windows 7 pro.
In my opinion it is a lot of hype with a lot of flashy effects that I don't need.

Amusing but cruel, bearing in mind that Simen 1 is from Norway then English is probably not his native language and I daresay his english is better than your norwegian.
For Simen 1's benefit the title should read -- Too many cameras, which two to keep.

The biggest problem you will have with a freehand system is getting the film parallel with the sensor and I would suggest you look at some sort of slide copying device to attach to the end of your lens to alleviate this problem.
I found it interesting that you tried a Pentax 50mm 1.7 so I decided to do a few tests of my own with a Pentax M 50mm f1.7 on a 31mm extension tube against a Macro Takumar 50mm f4, the results were quite surprising.
There are slight differences in the magnification of the samples below because of the physical difficulties of setting the lenses both the same, but it's not enough to matter. Both lenses were set at f8.
First the Macro Tak, full frame
Then the Pentax M full frame
Macro Tak 100% centre crop
Pentax M 100% centre crop
Macro Tak 100% left crop
Pentax M 100% left crop
I didn't bother to post crops from the right because with both lenses they showed the same consistency as the left.
My opinion:
Although the Macro Takumar shows a slight overall lead, the Pentax M 50 f1.7 is more than capable of being used to copy negatives.
The M does show a slight fall off towards the edges but this is only just noticeable when viewed at 100% and for most purposes this wouldn't show.
Hope that helps

When using a plastic tank it can be easier if you trim the film as in the pic below:
Also if you haven't got a changing bag then load your film into the tank at night with all the lights off, underneath the blankets/ duvet of your bed.
Although the bed is not the ideal place as regards dust it has worked for me many times and there is far more room than in a changing bag.

I certainly agree with the above posts but even with uneven development and fixing I would expect to see some sign of transparency to the film edges.
Your film looks as though it has been exposed to the light during loading or processing.

The dial in the viewfinder is coupled to the main shutter speed dial with a cable.
Adjustment is possible although from what I remember it's a bit tricky, search online for the MX service manual, all the information is in there.
