Thanks wildman, I guess you are right, cropping is too tight, I have attached another one based on your suggestion.

baro-nite,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I could not use lower iso because the bird was sitting on a branch way inside the tree, but as you said, I did not think of using fill-flash. I was not very confident using a monopod with a ball head as it was more shaky than my hands :-) . Another thing I should start doing is to shoot in RAW. Will post another one soon. Thanks for taking time.

smf,
Yes, eye was my point of focus. The bird was pretty still ( for a humming bird), it was my hand that was shaking. I took this picture hand held using Sigma 50-500mm. Used image stabilizer built in the lens, but still should have used a tripod.

Thanks photolady for taking time. I could not use 1/500s as the bird was sitting in the shade and I did not want to use flash. I will try with faster shutter speed.

Took this shot in my back yard. Shutter Speed 1/100s; Aperture 6.3; Focal Length 500mm. I had to crop to remove the unwanted objects in the picture. Did some basic post processing. Any suggestion is appreciated.

I like the turtle. Yeah, the Bigma is fun, except the weight.

maxfield_photo, thanks for the response. Could you tell me how to set the flash at 1/32 or 1/64? When I turn it on, I see P-TTL 4-Ch 1/1 Master. What should be the sync setting? Sorry if I seem to sound dumb...
Thanks
Mouli

These are my first outing with Bigma. The pictures were taken in Carmel Beach during labor day weekend. Both were handheld shots using OS-I

Allen,
The pictures are too good considering the low light. That's really encouraging....

The pictures are really great. I like the Osprey pictures more than the pictures of fox... I can't wait for mine to arrive....

Finally, I have placed an order with B&H for Sigma 50-500mm F/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Lens for Pentax. For the first time, I have opted for 2-day air shipping... I had placed an order for the new sigma 18-250mm lens, but it was back-ordered. Today I got an email from BH saying that Bigma is available for shipping, I cancelled my 18-250mm order... Now I am going to the gym to build some muscles.... :-) I would like to see some pictures taken using Bigma here in this forum....

I found one in amazon, but the site does not talk about $150 rebate on the 50-500mm. Is this rebate coming from Sigma or B&H?

Why B&H does not carry sigma lenses 50-500mm for Pentax. It has been out of stock for so long, where as he carries the lens for other mounts like Nikon, Sony, canon etc. Very disappointing. Same with the new 18-250mm macro version. It is available for every other mount in the world except Pentax....

Is it HSM version? Is it same as "50-500mm F/4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Lens for Pentax"

Taken at sometime between 6.30pm and 7.00pm,. I used 1.5x Kenko multiplier and 100mm-300mm Pentax FA. Shot this from inside my prius sitting tinted window. Most of them handheld..(you can see from the blurriness.... )
