That's an insanely good deal. It's a fabulous lens. Like DennisH, I bought mine used for over $500 and don't regret the purchase price at all.

Offering 50% is about standard for companies that buy and resell pretty much anything.
I plan to sell my 15Ltd, but I sure won't be selling it to KEH for 50% of the value! Someone here will want it. :)

I've used video on a the K3 a couple of times. It's underwhelming. If I want casual video, I'll use my Lumia. If I want good video, I'll to use something else.
Would I like to see killer video on my DSLR? Sure. But I'd not pay extra for video until it is.

You can die of "exposure," but no one ever died from getting paid.
Tons of these guys trawl Flickr for free work.

I'll worry about a new camera body when I consistently maximize the performance I have in the K3.

I would call it "mixed media" instead of digital art -- after all, the photographic portion is at least as important as the digital manipulation. Someone drawing or painting a scene would be digital art, IMO -- a whole different set of skills entirely.

Isn't declaring someone's Photoshop skills to be "inferior" because they DON'T process shots in this surrealistic way just as dismissive? It's like complaining Picasso couldn't paint because he didn't look like Monet.

Stylistically, this photographer is about 180 degrees from where my aesthetic sense is. That said, what s/he is doing is very trendy -- turning landscapes into surrealistic digital scenes -- and s/he is quite good at it.
That said, in my neck of the woods I don't see that translate into print sales. "Oohs" and "wows" and social media sharing, yes. Exchange of money? No.

Coming from a macro that did have the focus limiter, I don't miss it at all. 99% of the time I am manual focusing anyway. There isn't a huge amount of travel in the focus ring, so it isn't cumbersome to manually focus even from the far end. If anything, I might wish there were MORE travel in the focus ring to make micro adjustments easier -- but only sometimes.

^This.
The final calculation in my last lens purchase was that it would/should work with a future FF body. I would be seriously miffed if it forced a crop when unnecessary.

The only thing that ever happens to me when I am carrying my camera out is that I get asked to take a lot of cell phone and Canon Rebel pictures of couples and groups.
I live about an hour and a half from the OP, so I don't think it's a regional thing. I think the OP just has the misfortune to encounter a lot of jerks.

FWIW, I mentioned this at a potluck last night with a bunch of non-photographer sports fans there. They were aghast. The general consensus seemed to be great photography was the only reason SI was worth anything.

"In the future, we will be relying on our readers to submit pictures to be used for the exposure they receive, trolling Flickr begging to images for profit without paying for them, and asking our former staff photographers to work as contractors at a fraction of their previous pay and benefits."
Didn't Time mag already fire all their photographers?

Here's the way I see it: If the photographer were truly scamming the couple, she would have been served with a legal notice NOT a TV interview.
It sounds like a misunderstanding on the couple's part or maybe a poorly written contract, and the bride wanted her 15 minutes of fame instead of resolving the dispute.

Is the photo on any stock sites? If so, you can't ask much if anything.
$250 is about the going rate right now for royalty-free, non-stock commercial images unless they are truly exceptional or the buyer wants exclusivity. But as Jatrax said, they can go for $1 to $10,000.

WebKit browsers handle touch events differently than the (relatively new) W3C standard. IE 10/11 uses the standard. So if the site has touch coding specific to WebKit, it will work on Chrome and Safari, but not 100% on IE. Until WebKit browsers incorporate the standards, coding for both is required.
None of which is unusual; code in-the-wild is always ahead whatever the final standard will be, there's a mess and eventually it gets straightened out, but developers and QA tester get gray hairs trying to make it all work.
I am so glad I'm a RETIRED web programmer. I have enough gray hair. Touch Events |

My first impression was that it has an aggressive appearance. It's a different kind of "looks cool" than the multi color options, sort of the anti KS-1 to appeal to a different crowd.

This falls under the category of 'annoyance' more than bug, and occurs when you are using the site on a touch screen. When you click on the drop down menus it registers as a 'search,' I think. So, immediately after selecting your submenu item (for example, Browse New Posts), you get an error saying you have to wait 3 seconds between searches instead of seeing the requested page. Immediately reloading the page then works.
I don't experience this on a non-touch device using the same browser.

Yes, the UI is dated by any definition, whether you think it is dated simply because the design hasn't been changed in a while, or if you mean the design doesn't follow modern trends that hides everything behind 14 clicks in order to make it look simple while being harder to use.
I like the way the Pentax UI works. It certainly has room for improvement. But the design aesthetics don't bother me.
If Pentax wanted to look more modern, they don't necessarily need to change the function to update the look. Simply getting rid of the beveled edge 3D effect and the skeuomorphic "button" design would make it look more 2015.
