Very nice. I've scanned thousands my slides and have found that Topaz Denoise will do amazing things for smoothing the slide - especially the grainy skies. Then topaz Sharpen will really help some slides pop.

I bought the whole Topaz lineup a year ago. I love the simplicity of Studio 2 -yet will do anything I've needed. I use Denoise, Adjust, and Sharpen regularly.

My 18-135 did exactly the same thing but was repaired under the 3 year extended warranty (the warranty was almost ended). Now, again, 3 years later it has done the same thing again. I'm shopping for a new/ near new lens. Evidently some of these lenses just are bad.

Thanks for all the input, I appreciate it. If New Leaf or Adorama won't do anything I'll probably go for another lens. What about all the 18-135 used ones on Ebay from Japan? Has anyone had experience with these?
Thanks

I bought my 18 - 135 from Adorama in Nov 2014 -it came with a free 3 year drops and spills warranty from New Leaf. Almost 3 years later the focus mechanism failed ( it wouldn't focus either automatically or with the manual ring). New leaf repaired it and it worked great until yesterday. Now, 3 years later, the focus failed again. I'm asking for advice on how to proceed. Repair again? Replace? I love the lens.
Thanks Jim

Wow, nice shot. The water and the colors are great. In a few years this will be a very valuable picture (as your grandchild gets older).

Thanks; No, I didn't upscale it with Gigapixel to print. I tried upscaling with Gigapixel and the result wasn't as good as the original on my monitor. But, Topaz Sharpen AI worked great. So I just sent the file in and hoped for the best.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, when you popped the vignette on and off there was no question on which way to go.

I took this picture of Lower Falls on the Lewis River in fall of 2018. I liked the picture and did post it here back then.
Collage, com had run some specials before at 90% off and I've very good results from them.
Another 90% off sale came and I decided to see how big I could go and still have acceptable results.
I developed the picture in PDCU with some minor adjustments.
Then I used
Topaz Studio 2
Topaz Adjust AI
Topaz Sharpen AI
The result was incredible. A gorgeous 48 x 32 canvas that is so tack sharp and beautiful that it's hard to believe. It printed exactly as it appeared on my screen (ColorMunki adjusted).
No sign of any pixels 32 by 48 inches, even from 12 inches away.
This camera still amazes me and Collage .com has done beautiful work (and who can pass up 90% off). With tax and shipping it cost $60 total.

I posted this on "Digital Processing, Software, and Printing" but thought a few more folks would notice it on this page.
Topaz is offering 53% off on a package of ALL 7 of their products. The "pentaxuser" code takes another 15% (or $45 ) off the price.
So total price is $255 for the whole package.- the price is good for 4 more days. Topaz Labs – Photography software powered by machine learning |

Topaz Labs is offering a bundle of ALL of their products for $299 - a 53% savings. If you add Pentax users 15% discount it's really a good buy. I assume that the 15% off will still apply - it did on their other bundles offered.
It's good for 5 days. Topaz Labs – Photography software powered by machine learning |

Film Rescue sent these low res "proofs" back. My Dad was one of those "kids" who signed up for the war effort right out of high school. The war ended 7 months after he signed up for the navy. He was an electrician and worked on plane radios and never set foot on a ship. I think these are pics of Moffet field in California where he was stationed for a while. They are pretty generic. If anyone recognizes the pics please give your ideas. Thanks

Aerated water, but he actually lands in the dark area - evidently it was deep enough :). At the time of the first pic (last month) he did a back flip from the same place but the pictures were not very good.

Lower Falls on the Lewis River in SW Washington is a favorite for recreation and photography. These pictures are a current summertime photo, 4 years ago in November after heavy rains, and my crazy son (this last pic was taken with a Tamron 28-200).

Yes, after seeing how these turned out - you could have someone twirl and slowly walk ahead - or twirl them and gradually change angle. I had the kids ride the bikes toward me. So there would be a place for "planned time lapse." ---------- Post added 09-13-18 at 02:38 PM ----------
I was really amazed at the saturated colors. I didn't think we could capture images like this without generating them on a computer.
Thanks for all the nice replies.

A friend brought a box of glow sticks to our family camp out. Lots of kids spinning and twirling. I just held the camera steady - setting it on the handle of a stroller. I held the shutter open for awhile. The last two are of bikes with glow sticks on the wheels and other places.
These are jpgs right out of the camera with no editing.

Wow, this site was the first place I thought of to get answers as to where to send my old roll of film. I am so thankful for this resource and all the helpful folks here. ---------- Post added 07-28-18 at 11:46 PM ---------- I'll send it to Film Rescue and post the results if anything shows up.

I've just found -in my Fathers old drawer- an old roll of B&W? Plenachrome film. It's labeled "exposed". It's (1 5/8 x 1 5/8) or (1 5/8 x 2 1/4) I've attached 2 pictures and am wondering where I should send it for developing and what to expect.

Crows harrass owls, so this owl flew into this brushy area to get away from them in the late afternoon.

I bought my MX in 1980 when our first child was on the way. Until 2013 I documented all 12 of our kids lives. hiking, backpacking and road tripping with the small form factor was great! 5000 slides and probably 20000 prints later (mostly with the M50 1.7) I reluctantly decided the switch to digital was inevitable. When researching the switch to I came across the K5iis and got excited for the reasons that are extolled on this forum. I'm 63 now and still love taking pics of life and 26 grandkids (so far); I love this camera and the chance to answer "why Pentax?"

Scanned some almost 30 year old Kodachrome slides of Blue Lake. Fall colors were amazing and the lake was glass. Scanned on a V750.

Almost 3 years ago Adorama was offering a "free" 3 year warranty on my Pentax 18-135 WR zoom. In July my lens quit focusing altogether (wouldn't focus automatically or manually). The warranty was up this coming November. I paid for shipping to send it in and received it back in perfect working order in about 6 weeks. Was very glad to have the warranty.
