I am hoping for two new cameras being announced for laternext year, a k3ii with upgraded video features like we see with the ks1 and qs1, and maybe, just maybe 4k video with slight upgrades to the shake reduction simulated AA filter. ALso, the long awaited Pentax FF that is supposed to come out next year.
the k3ii doesnt even need to compete with the k3 in price range with the GH4 being in 1600 price range with a 4/3, pentax should keep it priced in 1500 range with the likes of the 7dmark2 to build excitement and a following for another a 4k video dslr that is affordable, and get some of the other manufacturers to start producing cine lenses for pentaxes. it would be nice for pentax to get back in the video business considering Asahi originaly made lenses for movie cameras in the 30s.
the 7d mark 2 doesnt do 4k, sony, the a7s does but is a mirrorless FF in the mid $2k range. price at 1500 and Pentax would compete with everyone on price, and with an apsc rather than a 4/3 be pushing the iso/noise agains the similarly priced lumix. everything else seems to be 3k+, excluding the gopro4.

thats funny since the camera store rated it one of the worst cameras of 2014. with that said, i dont think they won that particular recognition for being a bad camera so much as a camera that doesnt really go with what pentax is known for, ie weather sealing and sheer ruggedness. I am sure it wouldnt have been on the list if it was priced a bt lower at launch, but yeah. thoughts?

I doubt the slr design will ever disappear. its too functional, too iconic, too engrained to go, and with sony's success with mirrorless rather than there other professional bodies, it seems that theres more hope in a pro mirrorless market than the slt market.
literealy, when was the last time you heard someone talk about a sony camera other than the a7 series? not including bitching about the e, a mount system

ikelite had a dive housing for the k5 thats discontinued with some carriers having surplus. I know the k3 is larger slightly than the k5, I wonder if it will fit in the K5 housing.

true, the 645d was on relatively equal footing with the phase one p40 and competed on its price point. with that said, phase one already released their updated p45 with rumors of a p50 to be announced in late 2014 (just rumors). I think the 645d is still competitive, mainly for its price point but witht hat said it also hast to compete with the canon 1dx which i hate to say, is a better all around camera for its peripheral features, even though you will get a better image out of the 645d. the 645d may be a better camera for still and glamour shots, but it cant compete as an all purpose camera like the 1sx and d3 sadly. I think it just pushes the point that pentax needs its unicorn, a full frame. question is, can pentax afford to build it and produce a line of full frame glass/ revive a modified af series?
