Great question!
I had the same problem buying all the lenses I could afford. But, then I bought the newest Sigma 17-70. Awesome lens. Then I went through a couple longer Sigma zooms (I can not afford a large Pentax, yet) and finally bit the bullet and got the new 50-500mm.
I then sold everything else, all the Takumars and other classic glass.
I kept:
Pentax 50mm 1.8, for indoors. Only used for this, rarely on the camera.
Tamron BBar MC 55BB, a great 500mm mirror. Super light and somewhat compact. For long shots in good daylight only not needing autofocus..
Sigma 17-70mm, fantastic lens for landscape and macro. When not doing long shots this is on the camera.
Sigma 50-500mm HSM OS. Although very heavy, if taking long shots requiring autofocus speed I take this one.
I also have polarized filters for each and is on the lenses unless situation says to remove.
Works for me. I quit buying lenses :)
Cheers,
Kirk

I received the K-3 & the lens a few days ago. Just a review on the seller Emmy Photo, arrived when stated (came out of Canada!) and was packaged well. It came in the actual kit box. I liked it better before when the lens had it's own box.
As far as this camera. Wow. WOW! The difference between this and the K100D is going from a poorly lit night to a sunny day. And that is how it seems to operate. I can take pictures in Green mode that I struggled with or just couldn't do with the K100D in Aperture mode. Don't get this wrong, I like the K100D. Technology moves on. This thing feels like it is built like an armored tank, very solid and substantial feel. The grip fits me well, I am 5'9" with average to a little larger hands. I have no plans to buy a grip as I do not want the extra bulk.
I am an amateur so me explaining the quality of images wouldn't be fair. But they sure look nice I'd insert a smily face but I don't see the emoticons ?
Cheers,
Kirk

I received the K-3 and the PNY 64gb Elite SD cards. They are stated as 90mb read, 60 mb write. I formatted them in camera. They do work in this camera, in mine anyway.

Thanks for the formatting in camera tip!!
Just got the K-3 today! I will be formatting the SD cards very soon :)
BTW: I noticed the Wasabi batteries have approx. 25% more charge capacity than the OEM, so that must be why people report they can take more photos with them.

Wow,
Fast replies! I am now picking out the cards on Amazon. Sandisk seem the most popular. I need to do a little review reading on the battery.
Thanks!

As I wait for shipment to arrive...
I know I need a better SD-Card(s) and a 2nd battery for the K-3. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Karen,
I, also as a new comer to the forum, welcome you.
The Pentax training is a good idea. I ordered a K-3 & 18-135mm lens yesterday and have been wondering how I will learn even a small amount of what the camera is capable of. Stepping up from the K100D, the K100D manual I read from front to back, twice, leaves a lot to be desired for a novice like me. I need to learn more about photography in general.
I hope you find a good resource for learning that new camera!:)
Cheers,
Kirk

I saw a good deal on Amazon, via Emmy Photo, for the K-3 and 18-135 WR lens. So I push the Add to cart button.
I found a posting on this forum where others had good success with Emmy so I feel comfortable.
Now we are excited!!
