Thanks. I expect some distortion at 10mm, no matter what the lens.

I've read of problems with Sigma lenses and the Pentax K-70. I am interested in getting one of these lenses and am wondering if this is one of the lenses that has problems.
Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Jim

I understand your point and agree that the external recorder would give better sound. However, my plan for this is to just record myself speaking into a camera for some instructional videos I am building for my website. The videos would be housed on YouTube and embedded in my page.
I am currently doing it with a Audio Technica wired lavalier mic and my iPhone 5S. So given that, the K-70 would be an improvement.
On the other hand, I already have a Zoom H2 and a Pentax K-50, so I could use those instead of buying anything new, I'll have to give that a try and see how it works, I guess I would record the sound with the built-in mic on the K-50, also record in the Zoom and then sync the Zoom sound file to the video in Premiere Elements.
Thanks for giving me something else to think about.

Thank you. So, I am guessing that the Shutterbug reviewer did not bother to read the manual.

I looked at the webpage and the photos of the side of the camera clearly show the jack. I just want to be sure that it is not a feature that was left off the camera at the last minute and the website was not updated. Or, is shutterbug wrong? (Would not be the first time.)

Everything I have read says that the K-70 has an external microphone jack. Photos I have seen of the camera show a jack. Yet the review in Shutterbug lists the lack of a microphone jack as one of the cons of this camera. Pentax K-70 DSLR Review | Shutterbug
Would someone who has one of these cameras let me know if it does or does not have a jack for an external microphone,
Thanks,
Jim

Does anyone know if this camera will have an external microphone input for video recording?

I've read the bad reviews too. I've also read many more good reviews. Of the reviews I've read, most seem to be for the same type of use that I have in mind. That is to have a single, wide ranging lens I can keep on my camera at all times. The negative reviews seem to get into areas that I care little about. So, like all product choices, this lens seems to come down to a question of does it match you intended use. In my case, the answer is yes. Others may have different requirements.

I got my K50 in November. In addition to the reasons for choosing it that others have already mentioned, I liked the fact that I could buy the adapter that lets me use my Takumar M42 screw mount prime lenses.

This is the listing for the one I got: Pentax M42 adapter
Does that look okay?

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum. I have recently purchased a Pentax K-50 in the two-lens kit, and a Pentax X-5. These are my first two Pentax digital cameras but I am a Pentax user since I got a Spotmatic IIa back in 1975. I still have a Spotmatic and an assortment of five Takumar lenses for that.
I live in the Philly area and am interested in photography of all kinds, though most of my activity over the past few years has been drag racing photography.
Thanks for the forum and I look forward to participating.
