Thanks Adam. Will give it a go. Upgraded the firmware on the camera last night to the latest. Definitely the lens. Perhaps the chip needs a reboot.
Sincerely
Colin

Thanks for the suggestions. I am around 17,000 km from home at the moment on the other side of the planet. I will put it in for a service when i get home. I will just have to survive the next 4 weeks on manual focus.: (
Must be the English weather.

Hi Adam. I am using single point as i have had difficulty with multipoint focusing on wildlife. I have lots of pics of beautifully focussed leaves and blurry birds.
I havecleaned the terminals but to no avail. It has been working up to now.

I am on holiday and have experienced problems with focus ob my pentax 18-250mm lens. Over 100mm zoom the lens cycles but does not focus. Frustrating when there is a bird that is wanting to be photographed. Tried my 80-320mm lens and no problems. Will clean contacts and see if it helps.
Too many birds to shoot if camera playing up.

I am experiencing soft images with my k5, particularly at long zoom with 28-270mm lens. I want clear wildlife shots but find the detail lacking when enlarged. Bird feathers are not cleas. I have tried a range of ISP. Any thoughts? Thanks.

:)Went to a photographic workshop recently with my wife. Her old camera was not up to the task. Boought her a new K3 for her birthday. Is is an outstanding camera. Well worth the money. We were able to boost the ISO right up and photograph platypus in near dark conditions. I am looking forward to updating my K5 to the new generation Pentax full frams camera, whatever they name it. Hope tosee it on the market in a year or so.
