i think what's happening it the screw drive in the lens won't turn past minimum focus, and the adapter it still trying to spin, so the clicking is the screw driver slipping in and out of the groove. i don't know if its designed with a clutch or not to prevent damage to itself/the lens? could be the clutch slipping if so. there should be an electronic stop if there's too much resistance.

yep, any ol' e-mount extension tubes... i haven't seen any that don't have contacts. no vignetting on the 100, haven't tried others yet.

it also works on extension tubes on the sony body... no reason it wouldn't, but tried it out with the 100 today.
body > ext tubes > monster adapter > k-mount lens

thanks!
i do a lot of photography at night, and the 90 doesn't light to focus without a big flashlight, so that's a pain.... the 70 is better, but it's a weakness sony has overall vs. pentax.
initially i didn't want to invest much in extension tubes since i wasn't sure i would keep a sony system at all.... so i just bought cheap meike tubes and "shoot" brand and put black gaffing tape in the center to cut down on flare/haze/ghosting or whatever you call it when the center of the frame loses contrast... not really a problem until you stack a bunch of extension tubes and put the lens on 1:1 though. no wobble/leaks that are enough to worry about. having af with extension tubes is nice... not always useful at like 2:1 but i'd rather have it than not.

lots to quote here!
i usually choose the lowest possible iso, then take a few images and hope i wasn't shaking too much.... if the camera chose iso400, i'd be angry it didn't at least try a few at 50 and 100... it's just faster on pentax right now.
k-1... i should have said so! although it's similar on k-1 vs 645z
if i know ahead of time it's going to be dark and i'm using natural light.... i just take the k-1.
the only reviews i believe are full size images... mostly the ones that i take myself :D... i don't pay much attention to g/gm/dfa/whatever. i have the sony 90mm macro, the 200-600, and sigma 70 art macro, and sony's 35mm 1.8. i had the sony 50mm macro but i didn't end up using it, so just recently sold it. i hope to get the magic adapter soon. just scored the new 70-200/4 on ebay used from a dealer i like in japan... excited as it focuses to 1:2 on both ends, and i've never had a 70-200.... which is the lens i should have had at the dirt track races.... although that depends on the race track. i really like the 35... never had a 35 prime for ff... i liked it so much i bought a sigma art 35 for k mount... love that too.
seems strange that pentax suddenly seems to care about aberrations, but i'll take it. the new 100mm macro is great... when/if i get the magic adapter, i'll have to compare it to the sony 90 on the a7riv.
every long zoom i have ends up staying permanently at the long end... we'll see how the 70-200 end up being used!
yeah, i use adobe camera raw... i haven't tried dxo though. acr is pretty quick, and i can't stand having a cluttered screen with a bunch of buttons/extensions i'll never use. tried lightroom and uninstalled after a week. i should look into dxo.
i still see a difference in medium format colors and even more difference in dynamic range(mostly in post)... i have all the lenses for the z, and if the lighting is right and if the subject is still, it's what i prefer.
so far, i've bought everything i have used.... and i wait up to 6 months to get the best deal possible... so i haven't spent a crazy amount. it used to be every time someone misspelled something or left key words out of the item description on ebay.... but that's getting harder. i've thought about trying an a7riii... but i have to hit the brakes at some point!

i picked up a sony a7riv a few months ago
it lacks some very common sense stuff, settings wise... like on a pentax, you change iso, and you see shutter speed/other variables change accordingly in real time.... sony menu blocks out all variables except iso
iso 100 on sony far from being as clean as iso 100 on pentax.... but iso 50 on sony is fine.
lenses are ok, not magical
focus tracking is mind blowing. i went to a motorcycle dirt track race... not my normal thing... and if i locked on a racer's helmet... it followed him/her around the curve as the went around the outside of another rider.... even when totally eclipsed by the rider in front... and soon as the rider poked out in front again, they were in focus... while moving right to left, and closer/further away from me... crazy stuff.
sony's 200-600 is pretty awesome. having a 600mm lens is way better then being limited to a dfa150-450... even if the 450 has more pixie dust.
60mp is pretty nice.
evf is not bothersome, being able to zoom in through evf could use more refinement, but it's a great feature. being able to review pics through evf is great when it's really bright out.
having to convert sony raw to dng is a pain, but whatever.
most of the time i now bring the 645z kit and the sony stuff. stings a little to type that, but it is what it is.

i didn't say it earlier, but i was wondering about the irix 150mm macro with the adapter on sony... since there are no long macros for e-mount. it has the a contact and exif info shows up. irix just announcend the 150 for sony, but it's $200 extra vs every other mount... they made an "improvement" that you can de-click the aperture ring when you want to, but that isn't worth the extra dough for me... plus being able to use the da*300 on the sony body... and the dfa100 macro... and the dfa 50mm macro would be nice.

does the adapter provide auto aperture for manual focus lenses with an aperture pin/contact? or does it turn into a dumb adapter with anything other than the approved lens list?
