...AND the best choice for more more static subjects, Terry, even at a crop to circa 20mp, given pixel shift. You don't have to crop all the way to ~15mp (APS-C). There are no pixel-count police! My conjecture at this point -- K-1 all the way, and not even that close. People who don't like tripods need not respond critically, thank you. When, oh, when are more folks going to start getting this deal with 4x exposure on FF and zero to minimal artifacts from demosaicing? Getting the point across to more seems like "pulling teeth", to use an old expression. Helpful: Go back and read Lloyd Chambers in numerous blog posts on this issue. BTW, Fuji fans won't be all that pleased in this respect, either. Not even with the 24mp X-trans sensor, it provisionally appears. Lloyd does get it, however; and he, among others, spells out unequivocally what it all means for IQ. Don't mince words about this, I say; so, that-a-way, Lloyd -- Bravo! There is more than enough, including illustrative images, which is not hidden behind Lloyd's paywall for any Pentaxian to chew on for awhile. Any Leica users here? You might want to start thinking about selling the M9 Monochrome sooner, rather than later, if you like to work slowly and deliberately. Ha, ha. We'll start to know better very soon about such under-appreciated Pentax perks. I'm pretty excited about these prospects.

Yep. I want to warn prospective Tamron SP/ Kenko Pro300 DGX shoppers to do their homework diligently on the -- unfortunately -- many variations out there. You'll lose some measure of performance if you unwittingly purchase a less optimal variant... or, put it this way, be sure you get a good deal on the latter! It's complicated, and that situation is not helped any by people guessing on the internet... and not labeling their musings a "guess"; or better, an informed "conjecture". I was surprised to find that Canon EOS versions of the Kenko have multiple recent generational differences marked only by a color-coded 'dot'... even after so many years existence of the "widely compatible" EF-mount; and incompatibilities are an issue, it turns out.

Stupendously good, Dave! I take your astute point completely. Thanks!

Norm, I do not want to leave a K-1 home -- hardly ever -- whenever it happens I choose to spring for a K-1 a bit down the road! Just for one thing, doing so would screw up my high quality prime lens options immensely. I'll bet many here agree with that sentiment, with or without regard to the investment a K-1 entails. And nobody here, including yourself, has touted the underrated qualities of APS-C, executed optimally as a complete SYSTEM... much more often... than myself, in numerous threads... AND has put a considerable cash investment behind the opinion -- I was being too humble about the "two cents" bit [BTW, I've been largely absent here most of the past 10 months or so, due to a fairly serious disability: older guy, right, Norm? You keep in shape, I know.]. Contrary to what you sort of imply, and directly suggest, I, like you, prefer to have two bodies with me... at least two. Life feels much tougher to navigate not doing so, when you prefer prime lenses. I don't get what the beef is, frankly.

FYI: Sony A5000 (7.6 oz., just over 9 oz. loaded -- 2nd hand Kinotehnik LCDVF on the way)... new addition, Canon M3 (about 13.5 oz. loaded, with EVF attached). A5000: 20.1mp, with arguably better IQ by some margin at 100 & 200 ISO than the A6000 (compare at imageresource.com); M3: 24.2mp packed into a 1.6x crop factor! Forget crummy old 18mp DSLR's from Canon -- I, for one, never considered EVEN THINKING much about one, which is why I bought a Pentax, and became Pentax-centric, then & now!! I'm currently wondering if my K3 becomes the entirely superfluous item in this case, once a K-1 purchase is immanent. I have no intention of ditching the use of DA's 35mm/2.4, 35mm macro, 40mm, and 70mm on a K-1, which I would anticipate meeting virtually all my DSLR requirements, irrespective of cropping. And for an example, this -- 100mm WR macro + 1.4x TC... and/or SMC Pentax 67 200mm + 1.4x... COMPLEMENTED by A5000/"smart" adapted, OR M3: 11-22mm IS STM, nearly diffraction limited wide open (7.6 ounces!) + 55-250mm IS STM, pretty much the same (<13.5 oz.)... image stabilized on EITHER Sony or Canon (Pentaxians get spoiled). Or take this -- Nikkor 200mm f.4.0 AI-S + Tamron SP 1.4x TC = 280mm FF, optimum IQ for this combo at f.8.0 to ~f.10 or so for landscapes, INCLUSIVE of the TC factor... at around 23+ ounces. Works great with the Sigma or Nikon 52mm diameter thread apochromatic close-up lenses for near-macro. So leave another lens at home, if you wish. Again, I don't get the argument. Give me some credit for intelligence, please. -- Fred

P.S.- FURTHERMORE, Norm... 1.22x crop factor ON A PENTAX K-1 yields 24.46 mp's on LARGER and HIGHER QUALITY pixel sites.. with, acc.to Ricoh, superior overall processing, with noticeably lower noise from that factor ALONE, compared a D810; or to a K3 (with its somewhat less than 24 effective megapixels). And by your plan, you saved roughly THREE ounces in DSLR weight! ...And left a $1795 camera at home [!?]. ...I wish I knew who you thought your argument was directed toward -- it can't logically be me. BTW, how do you think your K-01 will do compared to the totally contemporary (save for the the hybrid detection AF speed) 24.2mp M3? DxO, for what that's worth, and noting their strange rating numbers, puts the M3's performance ABOVE that of ALL the sensor/processors in any rated Canon APS-C DSLR... including the circa $1800 variety! Maybe you need to brush up on your facts and make fewer assumptions, eh? Just a suggestion...

BTW, any Pentaxian who would like to make a judgement on all this for his or herself can do so in a matter of minutes -- just go to dustinabbott.net and look at the M3 image gallery postings from American southwest landscape subjects in Dustin's review of the M3. You won't need to waste your time looking over test patterns at 100% crop. These shots were taken with the M3 and the EF-M 22mm f.2.0 (3.7 ounces!) and the EF-M 11-22mm f.4.0+ (7.6 ounces!). They're kind of jaw-dropping, IMO, especially considering the size of the kit. These are NOT "kit" lenses, people. It's Sony who have the lens problem. The 55-200 EF-M lens, BTW, weighs 9.1 ounces, if that's of interest to anyone. My FF 28mm f.2.8 IS USM (bought used, of course -- it's a commodity, given Canon's popularity) is sharp wide open across most of the frame, REALLY pretty sharp to the borders at f.3.2... image stabilized on Canon OR Sony... at 45mm 'normal' or 42mm 'wide-normal' equivalent (as preferred to 50-52mm by me), respectively... at a pittance in weight and bulk compared to Sigma Art, e.g., OR Samyang/Rokinon MF. The M3 with EVF just LOVES Pentax DA Limited lenses, FA 100mm WR macro, FA 77mm, FA 31mm... 28mm f.3.5 SMC Pentax-'K'! Can't quite say the same for live view MF on a K3, can you? And hey, Norm, haven't you noticed that Pentax has nothing remotely comparable (nor does Nikon, yet)? Oh, I'm sure you have. My guiding principles would be, "think outside the box"; "do your own thing and help by explaining it to others"; and "less fanboy, more making practical sense". I don't see why this has to take such justification. I can't buy or use a Pentax camera and lenses that don't exist.

One more bit of advice for the curious: Don't think of evaluating the items I mentioned by B&H prices. No knock on them, but so many people with half-baked ideas have dissed the Canon M-system, mostly based on the *original* M1 release w/o firmware updates (and, unjustifiably, 20.1mp Sony, too -- Hello, K-S1 and K-S2 owners) that I REJOICE! Why? Where others saw faults, I saw opportunity. Hey, Chris at The Camera Store: you don't have to freak out completely over some defeatable LED's, all right? This is exactly the way I looked at the K-01 when that one hit these shores. Marc Newson, Marc Smoosh-son -- who cares? Norm, you have[/had] a K-01 and defended it's usefulness vigorously here. So... did you pay $799 for a one lens kit? ...Or did you wait for the 'fire sale'? Well, I will quietly suggest that the M-system fire sale is on, prematurely & big time, if you know where to look and are O.K. with buying a "bundle". That's it on that.

Yep, including a vintage piece like the 1.7x TC. I don't think many here have yet grasped the huge IQ quality improvement 36.4mp with new generation processor will likely yield with many vintage FF lenses written off by the rather presumptuously ignorant as "outresolved by the sensor", or "unworthy" of it, at ~36mp. Familiar internet 'meme', right? You can see a Minolta MD 35mm f.2.8 pretty much embarrassing a Sony FE 35mm f.2.8 (over 10x the cost, and built less well than my own newly acquired Rokkor-X iteration -- $38) at 42.5mp (via Sony A7R II) on the artaphot.ch website. You might be shocked how the Leica 35mm Summilux ASPH "compares" on FF Sony. The idea here applies in spades when you're talking about lenses of greater than 200mm FL, out of which you hope to wring 'modern' performance where AF is not critical... while justifying the weight and bulk when you leave the house. Birders should buy birder approved lenses. Casual non-specialists in that sort of thing can probably apply the implicit investment more productively in other ways. BTW, my comments are specific to 36mp and up sensor packages. The current FF 24mp [Sony] sensor is plenty nice for what it is, but it won't yield the range of benefits I describe. It's apples to oranges, I'm afraid. Again, you can conveniently find examples of this at artaphot.ch; and elsewhere, of course, if you look.

It's not really an 'either/or' situation, crewl 1. And you pay on the super wide to medium wide end (vs. primes, in this case) with most DSLR systems. Depends on what you need optically. Respectfully: 1) 1.4x teleconverter, circa 5 ounces; vs. loaded Pentax K3, circa 29 ounces (as a 2nd body for 'reach'?) ...2) Why would you want to lug with you any lens longer than 200mm max. focal length if there was only a small chance you'd need something 300mm or longer, irrespective of whether you're carrying a K-1 or a K3? Consumer class zoom lenses extending from 55-70mm out to 300mm FL (or 250mm, in the case of the better Pentax DA* zoom) are almost universally of "mid-level" overall quality, typically entailing some notable performance deficit beyond 180-200mm FL compared to shorter. The Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS STM is the only such zoom from any manufacturer that I know of, from any era, that is about as strong as it ever gets (and that's pretty good) at maximum FL well above 200mm. That's why I chose it, as an *adjunct* to 100mm WR macro, 135mm, and 200mm primes... along with the lightweight APS-C *mirrorless* camera(s) on which to mount it. I believe that cropping a little to produce, say, a 420mm equivalent FL for some wildlife shots from the Canon is the better option compared to shooting with a DA Pentax or Tamron VC USD anywhere near 250-300mm actual FL on APS-C format. And the widely touted Tamron, for instance (n.a. for Pentax), is around double the 13.5 ounce weight of the Canon IS STM... and the Pentax, nearly that difference. So, a 'no-brainer', then, given my own primes-centric orientation? I have a Kenko Pro300 1.4x TC for Canon (and for Pentax; and a Tamron SP for Nikon AF) as well. 200mm FF prime + 1.4x TC + APS-C mirrorless = best IQ at ~420mm equiv. FL -- or at 280mm on a K-1 FF -- in practical, flexible terms. TC's can help. You can, of course, go the much, much more burdensome route -- both physically and financially -- for competitive modern lenses over ~200mm FL, starting around $1450... and going up fast from there. I like having on hand the Tokina AT-X version II AF 80-400mm for Pentax, though, at 37 ounces (uniquely compact and "featherweight" for that FL on Pentax). I 'watched' for 3-1/2 years+ to snag that. Two cents worth of advice on the matter from someone who's kind of 'picky'; but who doesn't enjoy suffering under a load.

Edit: Does this make sense, Sandy?

Pentax D FA 15-30mm filter system

Dustin Abbott, on both his blog site and at YouTube, has the whole story on this, Pentaxians. Dustin's perspective is Canon-centric, but personally, he has mostly ditched the Canon super wide zooms -- including the nice 16-35mm f.4.0 L IS -- for the Tamron version 15-30mm... and he has found a suitable, dedicated commercial solution to the filter problem. From my experience so far reading his reviews (and especially, viewing the technical excellence of his own work in the photo galleries since acquiring my nifty Canon M3/EVF kit second hand), Dustin does know his stuff. He seems to be both very thorough, and exceptionally honest as a matter of personal character. The videos tend to be a little long winded and bland because he pitches a lot of information out there for the non-enthusiasts (these are low key, and pleasant enough to watch, though, if you've got time on your hands); but don't let that cause you to miss the write-ups, which experienced Pentaxians here may like much better for their smart organization and clean presentation... with the pertinent photo galleries right there to click on. I have high hopes for the misapprehended M3 as an adjunct to a Pentax DSLR, BTW -- With EVF, it seems like it will be an excellent platform for the Pentax Limiteds, and you won't have to pay anything like retail prices if you know what you're doing.

Thanks. In my case, I expect to support a DSLR load most of the time with B-Grip and Spider Black Widow belt holsters (or Cotton Carrier vest); or borne at the ready inside a partially closed Lowepro Passport Sling II, or similar less structured bag, hitched up to offer support from below. I'll be avoiding the long afternoons with 'walkaround zoom' on K3/K-1 scenario this way. This is why I like the PD connectors best -- fast on, fast off, with one hand... and less drooping around the camera's grip area. It's a matter of if I even need the regular strap in addition to the thinner, stowable Leash. You can save a few bucks on a package deal by figuring this out up front.

---------- Post added 03-14-16 at 01:24 PM ----------

Thank you, Bengan, for the close-up. I can follow that! You can see how I expect to utilize the PD gear above. I decided against their clip system, which seems to have come out of the design oven somewhat half-baked (just add a $29.95 accessory pad to fix the stability shortcomings of our second generation design!). I had missed the lack of padding in the newer strap, so thanks for the tip on that.

Brit visiting USA - carrying gear safely in New York

I stayed in Manhattan with a friend from college during two summers in 1974-75 and walked everywhere. Apart from a few strange, brief chat-ups around the old Times Square near 42nd Street (no inferences drawn, please), I felt safe just employing the simple strategy of walking briskly and looking like I knew where I was going. Curtis Sliwa of the Guardian Angels (if you remember any NYC news from the Bernie Goetz era) in more recent times has commented that New York is "like Disneyland" now compared to those days. So a good bag and gear choice is probably all you need to be concerned with. Check out adventure photographer Andy Mann's own demo video for his Signature Descent sling bag at the regular Mountainsmith website. This model is capacious, rugged and structured, yet still almost shockingly lightweight. It is cleanly stylish and free of typical 'giveaways' that it is, or can be, a camera conveyance. The short video really says it all about how slick this model is functionally while on the move. There is room for a couple of drawstring nylon sacks loaded with your miscellaneous stuff inside, too. Have fun!

Thanks -- I see your point here. This is one "slick" strap. You forgot the knot tying lesson for those of us who haven't been a boy scout in awhile: Recommendations? Also, would you now consider the new slimmer model of the Slide, taking a nearly 29 ounce K3 + the big Sigma 35mm/f.1.4 as a point of reference; or from your experience, would you conclude that the wider original is still the way to go?

Cotton Carrier Green

Hi... It looks like you received the same version, or 'generation', of the green CC vest as I did; i.e., lacking the latest tweaks in current production -- the umbrella holder sleeve... the larger front pocket and the advertised camera rain cover contained therein. These features are definitely enumerated and pictured on the box which contained mine. How about in your case? I wonder if anyone here (??) got an updated version... or whether Cotton Carrier even produced the current version in green? It's a relatively small issue, but B&H's product page and the misleading box are curious anomalies. Maybe Andy Cotton would send along the rain cover if requested: I could definitely use that.

My guess is that the artificial fabric sheen on the green will soon fade back to an even more neutral presentation. I use a full featured, everyday unframed backpack from Outdoor Products in almost this exact color (from Cyber Monday 2014 at R.E.I.) which disappointed me a bit for its shiney look, since I was going for a stealthy, hippie-eccentric non-conspicuousness in order to safeguard any camera and higher end mobile audio gear I might be packing... but in use, it quickly assumed much more the 'army green' canvas look I was after. I am very happy with this color and would have taken it over the black on even terms. I am probably going to use the B-Grip Uno (B&H Daily Deal) and maybe the Evo version as well for my A7, when accompanying a Pentax DSLR, CC-mounted... or the small Crumpler Pleasure Dome in black for my Sony A5000, when I have that along with one of the image stabilized Canon lenses attached via smart adapter.

FA 20-35 f/4 in preparation of my K-1

Folks thinking ahead to a K-1 should not overlook the Tokina AF (235) 20-35mm f.3.5-4.5 Version II. When you look this up in the lens database, take note that there are two separate listings for this same lens with user reviews, in addition to a third entry for Version I. Ken Rockwell has one of his more thorough reviews up on this one (just ignor the simplistic and typical Rockwell-isms), which includes an interesting, if somewhat dubious, application of Aristotelian logic. The AT-X Pro f.2.8 version with this FL range is heavier and considerably more bulky (I have seen the word "beast" used to describe it), and I could not find compelling reason online to believe it offered any overall IQ advantage worth the weight over the more user friendly version (K.R. has his particular biases and thinks it's not as sharp as the smaller option, FWIW; I went through all the Dyxum reviews, et.al., as well); but the f.2.8 does have better inherent correction for distortion, if architectural photography is a big thing for you. I ended up concluding that this slower zoom and the Tamron SP 20-40mm 2.8-3.5 represented the best *practical* options among vintage *third party* zooms in this range; the Tamron -- the best of the whole bunch, my own provisional conclusion -- was unfortunately never manufactured in Pentax mount. I also need to qualify my remarks to say that my priority at the time was finding a solution on crop sensor that might fill the FL gap between a DA 15mm and the FA 31mm, especially for landscapes and such (stopped down). When I am back on my feet, I will be doing some comparisons. I have two of each, the Tokina and the Tamron, purchased at opportune moments over the past few years: testing a single copy of a consumer level zoom, or any wide-mid zoom, for that matter, can only yield a doubtful conclusion... though anyone might get lucky. In any case, re: a Pentax FF, I had faith!

BTW, one of my favorite photos ever among database reviews, a pretty spectacular looking execution of a cityscape, is posted among reviews for the big AT-X Pro. Check it out.

I am happy to have been of some assistance, though my diligence had more to do with my own self interests! Nonetheless, I did want to tip off owners and prospective owners of Pentax's 20.1mp cameras to this information, which is definitely flying underneath the radar. IQ-centric folks, as I am, should take careful note; though, in both the case of the A5000 and Pentax K-S1, you'd be sacrificing something in ergonomics and control to gain the plusses I'm suggesting. No worries with the K-S2! In Sony's case, they introduced more full featured alpha models (the A5100 & the popular A6000) only about 6 months after releasing the basic, but all-you-need A5000: these were widely viewed as "replacements", though that is not really so. But I think that this marketing strategy had to have the effect of implying that the slightly higher rez sensor was an upgrade, and thus, "better"... and that the 20.1mp had become somewhat 'passé'. I choose the one available 20.1mp + BionZ-X implementation over the 24mp/BionZ-X, since my principal reason for owning it is to complement an A7 and, of course, my K3. Though disability has prevented me from making my own tests of this, my suspicion is that, all else being equal, your K-S2 may be able to produce more natural looking portraiture, for example, than my K3. Heresy, I know! But for those who can grok what's going on there, those IR comparisons do support the suggestion I'm making.

BTW. please don't miss reading John Riley's acutely aware reviews of your K-S2 (5 stars out of 5!) and also the similar K-S1 at ePHOTOzine.com. You'll feel even better about your choice! Riley is the one and only reviewer out there, apart from this site's staff, whom I have found to consistently "get" what the Pentax way is about. He is a Pentax owner, too. Both ePHOTOzine and the T.I.P.A. Awards people (the only awards that matter: check 'em out) rate your camera #1 in its category, unequivocally. Sorry, Nikon and Canon.

Anticipating the K-1 experience minus the exceptional physical burden of carrying the new 15-30mm along with telephoto primes (but, you know, guys, convince me otherwise!), I ask: Do you have any clue how that 16mm f.2.0 might work on full frame? Anybody?! Yes, I know this is a crop factor lens by designation, but I asked an eBay seller to send me a shot from the Rokinon 12mm f.2.0 mounted on his new FF Sony A7 II (this being the reason he was selling), and the broader coverage beyond the APS-C frame was pretty good and looked clean -- quite useful, I judged, after cropping away just the dark corners. I decided to go with the more versatile and image-stabilized 8+ ounce Canon 10-18mm IS STM on an A5000 (or A7, as needed in low light) over the Rokinon or Sigma 10-20mm for now, so I didn't end up with that one to test further. K-1 compatible alternatives among prime lenses are the Tokina AT-X 17mm f.3.5, adapted as MF from the Nikon version (kludge-y), or paying too much for the older version Contax-Zeiss 18mm with Leitax replacement mount. This is why I think it's sensible to ask. Thanks -- Fred

If I recall correctly, I believe Prodigital2000 will handle warranty claims in Canada for you, as an intermediary! Check with them on that. I had written inquiring about this when they had a very good price on the Tamron 70-300mm VR UCD posted on eBay. For my needs (to complement, not replace, prime lenses) I ended up going for the Canon 55-250mm IS STM on my Sony A5000 with 'smart adapter' at about half the size and weight, and with better expected IQ at 250mm. Their response to me was complete, specific, and courteous.

Cotton Carrier Green

It is a bit difficult to find truly representative photos or video of the Cotton Carrier vest in 'green' online, it seems. Whether this is simply about poor photo taking and reproduction, or something about this particular color shade as projected from this vest's polypropylene fabric to DSLR sensor-processor, I just don't know. In online pics from Google Images, the color seen ranges from brown to grey! This is not much like the fabric materials with which you're used to associating the shade of 'khaki-green' advertised. My own new CC vest is on its way, I am very happy to say... particularly considering that I have now just acquired the Pentax 67 A 200mm f.4.0 plus Pentax 67 to K-mount adapter, and will be on alert for the 1.1 pound 1.4 teleconverter to complete the package (my new "300mm prime lens")! After much consideration, my own feeling is that the black Cotton Carrier vest, particularly with the rather inelegant second camera mount attached, is just too "swat team" for my taste. I think you might just reconsider the "ugly" judgement, given only the two choices, once you have worn the vest in the context of other well chosen clothing. -- Fred

Don't even think of comparing the much cheaper Opteka knockoff, folks, unless you really understand the difference. Andy Cotton's own videos on YouTube are helpful in this regard.

Lowepro messenger & Pacsafe sling deals

Mr. Bag-aholic successfully snagged two flawless Passport messenger bags in black, due to a bit of fortuitous mix-up (?) between PayPal and Adorama. As I've said gratefully before, thank you, Adam! Quick review: A very competent and versatile design, and much better suited as a stealthy camera + lens conveyance than I had expected -- two pouches inside the front "accessory" pocket underneath the front flap (one mesh with a wide zipper) appear to be large enough to temporarily hold Pentax Limited lenses, conveniently AND securely, as you are shooting! Who knew? There is a production variance in the size of the open pocket between my two samples: one is plainly very accommodating, and the other could be modded a bit to open it up, if required. This is typical Lowepro mid-level quality with regard to materials -- you trade off a soft, silky 'hand' for a tough, tight, structurally stiffer weave at the Lowe-est possible weight. This is a very practical and sensible compromise; and of course, this helps make the truly silly price possible. The inside padded camera bin could be described the same way. It's a good size, if you can exploit the height dimension, and has a 'lid' which secures nicely with velcro. The color is neutral and is the standard/generic Lowepro light grey, so mix and match with your other Lowepro stuff.

Thanks, Adam and Steve. The contrast detection auto-focus in my aging eyeballs isn't what it used to be.

I have both AF versions, so far untested, in Canon EF mount. I've had the 'rubbery' one for several years, while owning no Canon body but a bargain $9.99 Rebel G 35-mm eBay snag... due to my being the only (cheapskate) bidder. I picked up the spiffy full metal jacket version at auction to compare for use on Sony mirrorless with smart adapter. Though any auto-focusing potential is limited by the contrast-only mode available with smart adapters on my present bodies, I wonder if the foregoing observations regarding AF performance might apply as well with Canon... or, Canon-'imitated', in my case. Does anyone here have any insight about this? I never cared much about the Canon end of things until recently acquiring two uniquely totable image-stabilized EF-S zoom lenses plus the 40mm f.2.8 STM for my A5000 (Pentax emulation, you might say!).

Adam, do you know if the K-S2 (and K-S1, too) will accept the same Katz Eye replacement focusing screen as previous K-series bodies? Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, panoguy, particularly with regard to the combo you singled out. I missed out on the Samy's K-S1 deal, unfortunately: I think very highly of that Exmor 20.1mp sensor, which I believe is widely underrated. My Sony 20.1mp A5000 and the Pentax KS DSLRs could be identical triplets regarding output IQ, except for a little difference in color-to-color balances with set-ups by Imaging Resource. The resolution is identical, suggesting that the Sony iteration has a weak AA filter. Comparing A5000; A5100/A6000; KS-1/KS-2; and K3 at IR is a VERY instructive exercise, I think, especially on "House Poster" and the mannequins. I feel that the A5000 outpoints the 24mp A6000 subjectively in a number of respects. Later on, I found out that the DxO techs seem to agree, FWIW, scoring the A5000's 20.1mp sensor with a one "perceptual megapixel" advantage over the 24mp Sony alternative... right across the board, with all the lenses available to 'plug in' -- even two p-mps, in one same-lens comparison. Also, Less vignetting with all lenses... and about 1/2 stop better dynamic range at base ISO, to boot. Extrapolate DxO's findings there to the KS-2, I might suggest. Pentaxians here can use their own eyes to compare the K3's IQ in a similar fashion, if interested.

BTW, panoguy, you tipped us off to the Nest tripod deals awhile back, didn't you? Thanks again for that (owner)!

Thanks. I guess I'm still stuck on square one. And unfortunately, people do not seem to be giving theirs up on eBay, either, which I can understand.
