Asahi Pentax m-100mm 1:4

---------- Post added 01-29-21 at 08:08 AM ----------

I wander if, when pressing the green button, the k-r camera looks at the set iso and takes it into consideration when determining the shutter speed/exposure.
Probably not.
Referring to k-r camera.

ok, so one simply can't do it with the k-r.

Some of what you typed confuses me, as I don't see how the camera can "stop down" or force a picture to be taken at max aperture, with a manual lens, where I control the aperture with the aperture ring.

When shooting with a manual lens, is there a way to have the camera automatically select the ISO?
In manual mode, it doesn't seem so

When using camera with a manual lens with aperture ring.

Does one only have to set it to allow aperture ring in the settings?

Is leaving the Green Button on "P Line Shift" ok or does that need to be changed (to use green button to make camera select shutter speed.

Thanks!

p.s. Just curious, why does it not become an option when camera is on "auto" mode on the dial?

In the menus, my "AF MOde" is greyed out (and set to AF.A in green letters).

How do I get this back so I can select here?

So, according to his video, "technically speaking," 1:2 is not macro. Or do I have things backwards.

Is this fungus or lens element separation?

Thanks all for your replies. I bought it for $20, a few years ago, because of this "fault" on the lens.
Is it true that people only notice this when the elements/groups at the end of the lens have a visible fault? Thus many may have a lens with separation deeper in the lens or where the lens connects to the camera?

Example of image taken with this lens:

I've used the lens for years and it doesn't interfere with the images (see first 6 images at Michael Piziak | Flickr)

I'm curious as to users that have or have had the Pentax k-r, did you experience the "severe front focus" issue?
I have the camera, and it focuses fine indoors.

I may sell my Pentax k-r and upgrade.* Would like users here to suggest a used camera body (or with lens kit) that may go for around $600 (or slightly more) on the auction site or here.

Much thanks in advance!

Poll - dust in viewfinder

I too believe the Giotto rocket blower is the culprit for the dust that gets transferred to above the focussing screen. I think folks are much better off using that Pentax gummy wand.

I'm curious as to how many of you have some dust in the viewfinder area if you point your camera at a white wall.
I've had 4 Pentax cameras over the years (two k2000's, one k-x, and now a k-r), and 3/4th of them had some dust or small black plastic spec in the viewfinder or focussing screen.

This video shows how to clean the focussing screen, if you dare. I have not tried it.

I like the idea of the Pentax m series f4 for around $100 to $150.
You mentioned the 100mm version. I see more 50mm versions. Does the 50mm version mean you have to get closer to the subject ?
